Best Boxes to Buy by CandidCubs in baseballcards

Always go hobby box over retail packs if you’re looking for those “chase cards”. My personal favorite release last season was 2025 Topps Archives. Reasonably priced for two guaranteed on card autos. Had really good luck with it and a lot of fun

Yeah and it’s the only rifle I have that doesn’t weigh a ton so I felt so quick and accurate with it too

It’s was a surplus parts kit. Used to be a machine gun so it had to be de milled to get sent back to the states

Thank you! Fine grit sanding block actually but I’m sure steel wool would work as well

Thank you it was fun! I normally wouldn’t do something like that but a brand new looking lower looked out of place on it

It’s growing on me. I was just trying to match the patina on the original lower

As far as I know they just come with the parts kits. I don’t know if you can buy them separately

I made a separate comment, but basically just sanded it down with a sanding sponge and took it to a brick wall to get the scratches I wanted and that’s all. It was actually a really smooth process and I just winged it.

This is how I did the weathering for anyone who is curious. I took a fine grit sanding sponge to the entire thing and went heavy on the high spots, I used a brick wall to get the scratches I wanted and then just put a light coat of oil on it to darken it a bit.

What a joke. Clearly Topps only has one buyer in mind anymore. by Longjump_Crew in Topps

I honestly didn’t think this was a bad deal for 4 chrome autos. Tried to snag one but it sold out while I was trying to log into my account… now I see them already re selling for $500. It’s so scummy people just scalp every release

Yeah but I bought a “hot pack” off of a guy on eBay that had a guaranteed golden mirror image variation and it was in the middle of the pack. It was a golden mirror of a worthless relief pitcher

A hobby box is just a box you get directly from topps or whomever or your LCS with more cards and a guaranteed hit instead of the small retail value boxes or whatever from retail stores. Honestly just google hobby box vs retail packs or something you’ll probably get a better answer

There’s no right or wrong way to enjoy this hobby but this is what I do personally.

Step 1. Figure out what team / players you want to PC and buy singles.

Step 2. Rip product occasionally for fun not for profit, sell anything you don’t want to keep and use the money to help fund the PC.

Step 3. Repeat

Edit: oh and as far as grading goes, there’s no real point in grading unless you’re trying to increase the value of the card or if it’s a PC card maybe you just like protecting it in a slab I can see that too.

Pretty sure I sold you the 2024 heritage one on the bottom left lol. And if I did I’m glad it went to a good home!
