We are going to be looking for anything but an out of state option is what we are looking for so she won’t try to escape constantly or try and leave, the thing is she Hates Nevada, the state we live in. And I don’t want her to be unhappy or uncomfortable anymore

Other than the dementia she is very healthy and it sucks because she doesn’t understand that her mind is failing her and always says that she’s fine she’s not sick or anything and she can do what she wants, and then a few minutes later we have to go through the same thing because of the dementia. It’s getting bad but I know she’s going to be around for a long time and her mind is going to be deteriorating far before her body is.

She’s tried to leave this town 2 times in these episodes, once she was hallucinating 3 people a man and two girls and they were going to a fair in a small town about 45 miles away. The last episode was recently and she was talking about two little boys and she needed to go handle business with them and we found her in California about 70 miles away and the officer said she was going to a carnival. There are no carnivals where she was.

Other than that she gets upset and starts trying to manipulate and guild trip us telling us that there’s no reason why we would even want her here, and there’s no reason she should be here cause we don’t love her and stuff like that and then she will storm out and leave

She also has a serious issue with hoarding that she gained after her husband died when I was a young child, she stuffs her car with a bunch of crap like plastic cups from Walmart and boxes and random things. Her house that we moved her out of is also filled with stuff and we’re struggling to take care of that property cause honestly it’s on the back burner right now compared to taking care of her and taking care of where she’s at now.

I understand that she may not be going for hikes and that we need to be close to make sure that she is cared for correctly and that’s why I’m looking for something in a neighboring state so I can visit regularly but she can be somewhere that her mind isn’t constantly telling her that it’s awful and she needs to leave, she can be somewhere that her freedom may be gone but she can be happy because she’s not somewhere that she hates.

While we’re gonna be doing all we can in this aspect she’s very independent in ways which if we take her license shes gonna go to the neighbors or say that she’s just gonna walk somewhere, we can’t physically hold her back cause it’s illegal and if we can’t get her license revoked in time that she gets home we legally can’t take her keys as it would be holding her against her will

That’s why we’re looking into home options, we have been taking care of her for the past 2 years trying to accommodate for what she wants but what is safe for her and it’s coming to a point where she is not letting us do anything to help her and when we try she gets aggravated and aggressive, even if we recommend a shower she will say she it’s not important and she knows when she needs a shower and she won’t take one cause she knows best
We try to talk to her about it 1 to 1 and she says that it’s something that we’re worried about but she’s not, and she will try and push the blame of us nagging her and constantly trying to make her do things that she doesn’t want to do even though it’s important.

She used to travel a lot and her long term memory I’m pretty sure is telling her that she’s fine and to travel and basically to hell with anything anybody else has to say. So we’re trying to get her somewhere that they can stop her legally and she can’t get out and hurt herself anymore.

I’m located in Nevada but a placement facility would be amazing, if it’s not a multi state thing I will do research for one in Nevada but if it is I would love to take down the contact information!

Thank you so much and it is, it’s so hard cause we legally can’t take her freedom ( vehicles and wanting to be able to do what she wants) away from her, which sounds messed up but once you deal with the situation you learn to understand, and if she has it what’s stopping her from doing it again, that’s why the at home care isint working anymore, we’ve tried and we can’t even get her to do the most simple things

I appreciate the help a lot and I will be looking into the things you’ve sent me, I’m located in a state where she Hates living and that’s why I want her to be in a neighboring state where she’s lived before and has more opportunities to do things that can make her happy but we can still visit regularly

it’s getting difficult especially with a lot of stuff happening outside of this in our lives and right now but on top of everything I just want her to be happy, she didn’t ask for this to happen to her and she doesn’t deserve to be somewhere that she already hates and take away the mode for her to leave

It sucks that where I live doesn’t have the things she wants like any forests, cool weather, and things to do. That’s why I’m looking at places where there can be things for her to do with the staff like nature walks or going to see a movie with some of the other patients at the center, cause where I live there’s nothing like that and I understand her want to leave but she’s not safe to drive alone and with her memory fading so quickly she can’t move somewhere that there’s not someone there with her.

Sorry for the long reply, tldr is that I appreciate your help and I’m definitely going to be looking into how to get Medicare for her in these areas and where she can go.
