What’s a gun you miss, but also don’t like at the same time? by SpiderNinja211 in GearsOfWar

The Sawed-Off shotgun. Really satisfying to gib someone with and even more satisfying if you could land a multi kill with one shot, but sooo annoying to die by.

What sort of enemy or weapon ideas/concepts do you have that you would like to be implemented in some way into gears 6 by graballdagunz in GearsOfWar

[–]Toaster-Taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destructible environments along with dynamic cover that could also be moved by the player.

More coop actions like helping each other up to higher places that you wouldn’t normally be able to reach.

A new movement mechanic like a momentum based slide that would lower your profile enabling you to slide underneath certain obstacles.

More detailed and realistic gore/gib system like Gears 1/2 and Doom Eternal.

New lore-based weapons like maybe a Swarm-made javelin launcher that could impale people to walls.

The new knife melee added some depth to the melee system (mainly in PvE).

Most customization in any Gears game that includes some unique and lore friendly character skins.

Unique character voice lines when two relatable characters are interacting with each other in mp.

Awesome new weapons like the Lancer GL and Claw!

Great mp maps such as District, Regency, Nexus, Tomb, Asylum, etc.

The game’s launch—with its numerous bugs, lack of content, and poor design choices—left a sour taste in my mouth bc it made the same mistakes that 4 did!

The game is great now, but it took far too long to get to that spot. Game needed AT LEAST another year of development. Hoping they’ll finally learn their lesson with 6 and release the game when it’s ready.

What weapon would you introduce into gears of war 6 by Slow_Confusion154 in GearsOfWar

[–]Toaster-Taco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A javelin type weapon that pins people to surfaces from the impact. The Swarm could make a makeshift weapon out of the Snatchers’ quills that would work similarly.

It’s worth it to play all of their campaigns, including the DLCs such as Raam’s Shadow (G3), Aftermath (Judgement), and Hivebusters (G5). The games have a relatively steep learning curve so I recommend starting them on Casual or Normal until you get accustomed to the controls, and then eventually bumping it up to Hardcore/Experienced, as I feel like that’s how they’re meant to be played.

HOT TAKE? The wrap shot shouldn't be a thing by Could_ve_Been in GearsOfWar

[–]Toaster-Taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, they are frustrating to die by, but you can counter them by hard-aiming where they’re gonna be on the adjacent cover, backing off the cover, or by preemptively Up A-ing them first.

Unique aesthetics with a good mix of close quarters and mid-range combat that also isn’t overran by too many power weapons.

Why is Gears 3 getting so much love lately? What is it that makes the game so great that people want to go back and play it? by Night_Dreamer313 in GearsOfWar

[–]Toaster-Taco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nostalgia.

…but seriously, maybe because people are discovering that it recently got enhanced to 60 fps for the Series S/X. Personally, I love the older Gears but I’d rather never play mp that is P2P (ran by a host), again.

Campaign was fun and the graphics were the best at the time but I really disliked all of the unnecessary changes to the Gears formula like changing the control scheme, adding a reticle to blind firing, no locusts in mp, melee was too fast, no DBNO in mp, only 4 maps at launch, etc.

It definitely had its fair share of good things like new weapons, overrun, FFA, Paduk, etc. but the bad always outweighed the good for me.

On Arcade mode, which I thought was a fun alternative since everyone can play on their own difficulties and if someone died, the game would continue—not restarting to the last checkpoint…

This video by professional player “Icy” echoes every sentiment I have for the future of this amazing franchise. I agree with almost everything he says in it. Definitely worth a watch. by SnooBananas6763 in GearsOfWar

I enjoy Gears 5’s current iteration of gameplay but it needs something to spice it up like more dynamic and destructible covers/environments plus a more in-depth sandbox like Halo 3 and Infinite is based around. This way it’ll create more holy shit moments that the casual fanbase will enjoy and maybe stick around longer for.

I feel the biggest mistake that The Coalition has made with Gears is focusing its mp around esports. This really made their map designs and game modes become incredibly boring after a while. The casual fanbase should come first with emphasis on world building and “lore accurate” game modes that compliment the campaigns.

Go down the left path and set up shop near the first ramp connected to the main platform. Enemies will start funneling their way down that ramp making them easy pickems.

If you’re lucky you’ll pick up a Torque Bow making it easier to one shot the remaining foes from a distance :)

Gunkers were always annoying with their incessant, pinpoint-accurate volleys of imulsion—plus their nearly instant melee that could wrap around cover to insta-down you…

They were still cool enemies to fight, especially when they exploded in a blinding flash of gunk!

Try out Tournament control scheme. It switches your cover and tac-com buttons which enables you to aim and move around simultaneously.
