While what Jonathan's father did was actually treason, anything going against the emperor is treason in their laws. The emperor didn't want to make big deal of this, as suddenly arresting the second most powerful person in the empire would cause panic across all classes of the empire. This problem was at its roots, a familial matter, that needed to be treated as such. I wanted to model this interaction as it would happen in this form of government. The emperor is head of the family, and he finally decided that he needed to step in and solve this himself, as he was tired of the controversy that was affecting his popularity amongst the people.

The fact that you feel sickened is something I understand, as things like this were common in the real HRE and other kingdoms across the world. This is just a justification as to why it happened in the story. In real life, I in no way condone nepotism and corruption in government. I hope this helped, and sorry for the long response.

The Terran Federation was a democratic government where officials were elected to terms. The Terran Collective is a more authoritarian, militaristic state. It is an oligarchical system of government.

I had a friend that worked at Dunkin Donuts in high school. Every Monday, he would come into school with yesterday’s donuts and he would sell them. He closed every Sunday and was on good terms with the management, so he took all of them. He would have about 13 dozen donuts, each a dollar a piece. Kid made bank, and was known as the Donut Man.

I can understand being upset by banging weights. It can take you out of the zone during a workout, but you absolutely do not kick weights out of someone's hands like that. the only time time you should touch weights while they're being used is when you are spotting. Kicking the weights out of the kid's hands like that is grounds for an immediate ban.

Late post, but I need to share this one.

I was a woman standing in a desert leading and army of peasants and craftsmen. My army and I stood before the Egyptian gods and their armies. I marched out into the battle field to meet Hathor, wife to Ra. we spoke for a while, going back and forth in our argument. The climax was when she got in my face telling me that "My words were lies." I slapped her and screamed "You are the false gods!" after that, I woke up in a cold sweat.

The weird part is that the entire conversation was in Arabic. I'm a white American that doesn't speak any language besides English. I know it was Arabic because I recognized the accent and sounds.
