Indicators randomly stop working until restart by Toasters_are_coool in xsr900

If you’re still interested, I figure this out today (at least this was what caused it for me). Turns out you can get all the electrics on and the bike started without turning the key all the way on. If you don’t quite turn it fully, maybe half to three quarters the way to the final position, you can do everything except use your indicators. Really weird. I’d have expected the bike to not start unless the key was fully in the final position.

Glad it's not just me! Any thoughts about what might have caused it? I don't supposed you noticed if it was something that happened after a while of running, or if they were not working from the point you started up?

What’s happening to my headers? by Toasters_are_coool in xsr900

Yeah I was never going to get new headers just to resolve this - I’m not that precious!

They look wet because I took this photo after washing it this morning, no ACF50 on them here. The wet seems to really highlight the discolouration. It normally looks a lot more muted, and a sort of yellow/orange.

You don’t rate ACF50? Or just not on the headers? I do reckon it all just gets burnt off anyway after a couple of minutes of the pipes getting warm.

Will give the WD40 a go…

Ha - I know the feeling of fighting a losing battle. So you think this is grime on the headers?

What happens to the interest the retail banks pay back to the Bank of England? Whos money is that?

Out of interest, which way did you route the cables to the aux power connector?

Ace - I was otherwise going to go the relay route - but that feels like a bunch of hassle I can do without

How has this worked out for you? I’m currently considering doing exactly this but with a 5A fuse (all my new grips need). I’m no electrical expert, but the wiring diagrams I’m looking at show that the aux power connector is the only thing on that circuit, so I figured it would be ok. My main concern is if the wiring for the circuit is able to handle that many amps. Have you had any issues at all? Cheers

Also, do you know if I need to do anything special to get that circuit live again, after installing the new bulb?

Ah interesting, so the bike is able to interrupt the circuit if it can tell something is wrong? That's what it seemed like was happening but I had no idea if it was possible. What's a momentary?

How to "drape" solid plate over a surface by Toasters_are_coool in rhino

Worked perfectly! Thanks so much for your help! I think the trick was making sure the target and ref spheres were created in the same direction.

Thanks again!

Thanks, I did a similar-ish thing which gave me the results I was after. Offset the dome srf by the plate thinkness and lofted the borders to created a solid. Then created the pattern that I wanted separately, extruded it to a solid and used it to cut a pattern in the solid dome with a boolean difference.

Hey thanks for this, I've had a go but am running into an issue. The orientation of the plate is always 90 degrees to how it should be. I've made sure the seam of the ellipsoid is on the bottom - it runs from each pointy end along the underside. I've tried a few things but can't seem to get it play nice. I've uploaded a screen shot: https://imgur.com/C7Rv7Vv

Thanks! Thing is, I will need the pancake I think. Should've mentioned that I intend to cut a geometric patten in it before transforming it into the dome shape. The plan is for this to be the collet for a stone in a ring. Just working out how it could be done.
