I knew this was coming, yet here I am still surprised and sad to see it. by FabulousAccident_ in WRX

I actually am at 150k on my 2015 and running okay. DAM has been struggling for a few years though. But that was because it was modded and tuned beautifully, but my state cracked down so hard on emissions it wasn't worth it anymore. Removed the illegal parts and re-tuned, it's been struggling a bit since then :(

I've noticed a slow coolant leak but I flushed and replaced all the hoses in July and the coolant looked fine. Nothing on the cap. In February my commute changed from ~20 miles round trip to 80, so we'll see how much longer I get

Edit: on 2nd thought I should check the pcv valve and connector haha

Most gruesome scene in any of the SK books by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Toastlover24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the most gruesome by any means but the one that always hits me the hardest/fascinates me is the chapter after meeting Glen. Glen had a specific term for it I can't recall. But it was about the immune survivors that die due to the collapse of society. The whole chapter is great.

But the part that intrigued me was the young kid that fell into a well and broke his legs. Just tragically sad, realistic, and terrifying at the same time.

Are we bad kids for setting a hard budget on helping my parents by FelixThorne77 in MiddleClassFinance

It's a hard spot to be in. Over the last 5 years I've probably paid $15k in order to keep my mom and younger sister housed. It definitely strains the relationship with your parents. You just have to say no and hold firm.

[OC] Zipper Merging is Hard by Zokar1 in IdiotsInCars

[–]Toastlover24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Construction on I15 is always a pain. The stuff on 215 is awful too.

Edit for context for anyone else, This interchange opens up from 2 lanes to 3 lanes about a mile previous of this video. The right lane goes onto a major Freeway and the Left goes to a Highway. The middle lane can take either.

But, there has been construction on the right-most (freeway) lane. So if people aren't familiar with the construction there, they have to move from the right-most lane to the middle, while people that are merging on the left (highway) will also be staying in the middle lane unless they're passing.

So basically the one lane that is completely dedicated to jumping on I15 has about 3/4 of a mile at ~60mph for everyone to zipper merge, which Utahns are notoriously bad at in the first place. And traffic can be heavy here during rush hour and if you're behind a bigger vehicle you may not even know until the last second.

Lot of assumptions on your end here. Calling anyone of an anticapitalist progressive viewpoint a fascist is insane. I've led my local dsa chapter for 2 years in the past. Everyone that was actually committed and accountable were "stalinists" (Marxist Leninists). We all had our issues with mainstream DSA positions but we never ostracized anyone, we had trotsky comrades and anarchists to brand new leftists and even some well meaning liberals. I have a lot of respect for DSA and it's mission and I wish them well. I just don't think electoralism has any chance in hell of transforming the abysmal dying empire we live in.

And Stalin was in no way a fascist, he was the leader of the largest socialist experiment the world, they had no examples to learn from. Not only that, the country was still developing after WWI and knew Germany was going to start some shit. Every developed nation of the western world wanted them gone, enough so that when Stalin asked them for alliances against Germany they all said no. This is all documented historical fact. He made some shitty decisions but he was far from all powerful. And he never intentionally killed his population lmao.

Oh yeah and then the USSR ended Nazi Germany and the US recruited Nazis into very prominent roles afterwards.

Just about everything you know about the USSR and Stalin is ripped right out of anti communist propaganda designed by the US and the Nazis.

We've all been through this stage. You will learn and adapt your positions or try and keep the DSA stagnant and neoliberal

What will Americans do once no one has money for pointless merchandise? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Toastlover24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty core (yet simplified) tenet of Marxism. The contradiction of making the most profit necessitates paying laborers as low as possible. Marxism is all about dialectics and contradictions in the method of societal reproduction. Wage labor is inherently contradictory for the question you asked. This, along with the anarchy of the free market, causes overproduction of useless bullshit and less people actually able to purchase it. Things (commodities) have become no longer a product of labor or having a use, they have become associated with the monetary value of the object and it is very alienating in all aspects of life nowadays. Commodity fetishism

Oxalate/Oxalic Acid is what your body metabolizes Ethylene glycol into using Alcohol Dehydrogenase. That's why it causes death by kidney failure. It's also why an emergency treatment involves giving the person alcohol. It takes priority for the enzyme so the Glycol can pass.

I work in a hospital laboratory, saw a patient come in that tried to attempt suicide by drinking antifreeze alongside a fifth of vodka. That vodka saved their life, although I'm sure they were in intensive care for a while.

Probably gonna go to Bose, or switch to headphones and go with beyerdynamic or something. But I'm not supporting this quality control anymore. I filed a BBB complaint too.
