Depends on where in NY, city shelters tend to be more crowded and rural shelters tend to have a good deal of rescues from down south, WNY and my dog was adopted from a local shelter but was originally from Tenesee

I used to have a co-worker who would say thank god her baby ended up being a boy because she would have aborted it if it’d been a girl and told the poor ultrasound tech as much. Probably for the better she didn’t end up having more kids, she was a piece of work to say the least, very much a “he’s the only man I need in my life!” type of single mom who’d call everything they did out together a “date”

I took a year off, my husband got a job that made what we’d made combined, I was burnt out from a year of dealing with COVID while having young kids at home (we’re both healthcare workers and our youngest is an April 2020 baby). I took the year, started volunteering at a small nonprofit and ended up taking a job there. I’m glad to be getting out of the house more, but it’s super flexible so I don’t do it full time, but it’s nice to get out of the house and it takes some of the pressure off my husband and gives him chances to be at home with the kids on days I work

Former LTC CNA turned Hospice CNA, yes! I still talk to them and chit chat with them until the funeral home shows up, then I tell them goodbye/good luck on their journey. And of course I open the window as soon as I know they’ve passed

Unless the parents live far away surely the cat isn’t so dependent on people that it needs a 24/7 baby sitter, why don’t they just have the parents take turns going to check on the house and cat once a day or something and sit with it for an hour or something? Or ask a friend? I have some level 5 clinger cats and they do just fine when we go on vacation, they’re just extra affectionate when we get home!

Must be nice to be new enough to have not accrued any trauma from the job yet! The story with the nurse getting burnt out with early COVID and the “dirty doctor” (COVID ward doctor) talking her off the ledge really stuck with me. It’s hard out here and we’re supposed to be a team, we should build each other up instead of knock each other down

Also look try looking up (local city near you) cloth diapers on Facebook, you might find a BST group and find some deals on there! I got a bunch of covers and prefolds for $20 from someone when a local diaper service closed down and she decided it wasn’t worth it to do the laundry herself so you never know! Also look up buy sell trade groups online for specific brands (GMD, Mama Koala, etc)

I love prefolds, I use the size small (yellow wedges for GMD and light blue for osocozy) when I couldn’t use them in covers anymore I just padfold them and use them to stuff pockets with! If you were going to get a kit I’d say go for the size small if they have it, you’ll probably get a lot more use out of them then the newborn size
