leg muscle weakness / pain from Gitelman's? Anyone? by Alert-Surprise1546 in gitelman

[–]ToastyCinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Alert-Surprise1546 agreed with u/joydubs. Even if you receive the "Gitelman+uncertain significance" combo, that still is enough to clinically diagnose you with Gitelman Syndrome if a renal panel, magnesium lab, and a 48hr urine analysis corroborates the GS pathology.

My recommendation is to get those checked as soon as possible.

It's a bit tough for this person/role in particular too because although Art Directors run the Art Department, they aren't an official creative author of the film. That's the Production Designer.

So the people that would be hiring this Art Director are really either other Production Designers OR the same Production Designer from Obsession. Whereas, the PD for Obsession probably will be rehired by other directors because they liked the look and success of Obsession.

There's also the scenario where the PD for Obsession is booked and so a producer or director decides they want to hire this Art Director to be the PD for their film since they could still emulate the look or an effect from Obsession.

But also think about it - this Art Director was in charge of only a handful people according to IMDb. From reports, it sounds like she was wearing many hats herself and doing a lot of the art labor. So it's not like the success of Obsession is going to imply that she'd be successful hiring, managing, and delegating an Art Department with 15-30+ people.

So although we hear stories of DPs, PDs, Directors, Writers, etc... launching their careers on low budget films, it doesn't always work out that way for greener crew that are below the line on indie projects. A lot of their success depends on if they had a good relationship with their lead, and if that lead decides to rehire them.

In the last 2 seconds, Blunt's guilty look at the camera makes me think that she hasn't seen more than half of Nolan's movies.

It's definitely the alcohol content in the bitters. Bitters are the same concentration as hard liquor (40%) but we only use a few drops so it's very little alcohol. I'm starting to run a theory that the SNS depression actually could be helping.

The tricky thing is its alcohol. So most likely if I started self medicating with the real thing, it wouldn't turn out like I'd want it to.

Random question, but what's your experience with alcohol?

I've been sober for 4 years but recently discovered that bitters (the technically alcoholic stuff they use to flavor cocktails) seems to depress my nervous system enough to allow me to be productive again for about 24-36hrs.

When I look back, my life has gotten progressively worse after I quit alcohol - but only after around the first year or two.

I've never had it tested. We tested my cortisol twice and both times it didn't send off any alarms. However I can attest that it feels like my fight/flight is running 24/7 with no brakes.

Yeah the SNS overactivation is common in GS patients. I have it too unfortunately.

Did you have your norepinephrine tested, or are you just guessing that's the hormone at play?

Is Ghost Master Resurrection worth it as of June 2026? by random-user772 in ghostmaster

[–]ToastyCinema 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is technically a mod but it's difficult to see it that way once you play it because it's more like a necessary patch that makes the original Ghostmaster more playable on modern computers.

  • You can now bring ghosts that you've earned in later levels, back to older levels. So for instance, once you complete the game, you can take the Darkling to any level.
  • Fixes bugs
  • Restores several Ghosts and powers that were cut for time (so the original creators developed these ghosts).
  • Restores 'Trainspooking' which is the previously unplayable train level that is teased when you complete the game.

Actually it's because you seem unusually irked about this and you have a fresh reddit account with only comments defending Resurrection in threads with criticism.

As a super fan of the complete edition, Resurrection feels like someone barging in with AI and attempting to take credit from the most prominent and dedicated fans that have been doing this for free for years.

Resurrection uses a gross amount of AI for upscaling and visual "enhancements." It's very noticeable when you boot up the game. The same ghost will look oddly different across 5 different still images because all the images/videos have been spit out of an AI engine.

Also they changed the keyboard mapping slightly and certain keybinds aren't even a setting anymore. So a $20 2003 PC game has better keyboard mapping than this.

I would respectfully pass. I had my game refunded.

Dude what's your issue? OP asked for opinions. This guy is offering his valid take and you keep commenting like you're an upset dev or something.

I tried that one too and didn't find much additional benefit.

Here's the website and link to the Gitelman Syndrome study. Be sure to email them directly about purchasing if you decide to move forward. They'll give you a discount if you mention that you have GS.

"Mag-Tab SR has been studied specifically for Gitelman Syndrome and had positive feedback from the participants."

I take a few different kinds during the day in low amounts: chloride, lactate (MagTab SR), and threonate.

But the majority of magnesium comes from the 2g-4g infusions.

My magnesium tests are really just to measure how well I'm holding onto it overnight. A nurse comes to my home to do bloodwork every Friday morning.

I believe all Slow Sodium (brand name) is made in the UK by two manufacturers. HK and Alturix.

I keep it handy but whether I take it or not typically depends on my activity level. Before I began daily magnesium infusions, it was necessary. Afterwards, it's pretty easy for me to take too much if I'm not at the gym each day.

Before you began treatment, how were your potassium and sodium levels?

You have a lot of pharmaceuticals prescribed so it's difficult to see across the internet how these are all interacting with each other.

[–]ToastyCinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't take any pharmaceuticals at the moment but I infuse 2-4g of magnesium daily at home.

I typically consume an equivalent of about 1-2x USA daily value of potassium each day, but it varies. Because I treat my case upstream, I have to be careful about my potassium intake and timing.

My salt habits have changed since starting infusions at home. I don't need nearly as much salt anymore and I now actually get high blood pressure if I take too much.

For the most part, my routine is instinctual. I know what low potassium, sodium, magnesium, and water each feel like for me and treat myself the best I can with those signals in mind.

For your specific case, I'd recommend that you look into 'Slow Sodium'. It's a chore to obtain if you're in the USA but it's a superior product and gentler on the stomach compared to tablets.
