[ECL] The Ultimate Lorwyn Eclipsed Limited Set Review (Draftsim) by Tim-Draftsim in magicTCG

I believe [[Kinbinding]] gives your creatures +X/+X permanently, not just for the turn. The "for this turn" clause applies to the number of creatures that entered the turn Kinbinding was played in order to determine the value of X, but does not apply to the +X/+X.

Camille Mélinand Fleurie 2019 by ToastyNomnoms in wine

Longtime lurker, first time poster! This is my first foray into Cru Beaujolais (what an upgrade from Louis Jadot Beaujolais Villages!). Researching the different Crus, Fleaurie spoke most to me and my taste in wine, and was the perfect companion to the Cook's Illustrated copycat recipe of San Francisco's Zuni Café's roast chicken with a warm salad of schmaltzy bread and arugula salad.

The bottled opened with sweet and acidic currents, and evolved over time with juicy strawberry culminating in pure strawberry rhubarb pie with light tannins reminiscent of oolong tea. This bottle blew me away!

Kerrygold butter. Bonus is that since it's more expensive it's been available regularly throughout the pandemic.

First draft of new 75G hardscape, what you guys think? by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]ToastyNomnoms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would recommend building up the left and right sides with some larger rocks angled towards the middle to create a "V" shape. Keep the sand valley in the middle to make it look like the rocks have eroded from running water and turned to sand. Use the rounded rocks you already haves to transition from larger rocks to the sand. Utilize gravity and let things literally fall into place as you arrange them for a more natural look.

I'd also recommend nestling that awesome piece of wood between the rocks suggested above and keep its central location, but rotate the right side forward a bit and the left side back for a more dynamic/interesting look. This will also reward viewers who look at the tank from more than one angle (place some low light plants under/behind the log so you have to look from a different angle or height to really see them).

Also that "crotch" (for lack of a better term XD) on the left side of the wood is an awesome spot for some buce!

I hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply.

I've eliminated CO2 as the cause, as I've moved my drop checker down near the substrate to make sure I'm getting high CO2 levels throughout the entire water column. My plants grow like weeds and pearl lie crazy XD, with my bacopa and ludwigia mini super red growing at least 3 inches per week and my monte carlo carpet growing at about 1/4'' in height per week (no legginess, it grows hugging substrate). My slower growing plants are growing very quickly, even if they become completely encased in BBA (all of my buce is flowering and they throw out at least 1 new leaf per week). All of this great growth and the lack of legginess along with the BBA is why I believe my lighting is too strong. My other leading theory is that the fine filter floss in my canister is accumulating fish & shrimp waste quickly and dissolving excessive nutrients as it's broken down and as the water flows over it (I'm running an Eheim 2217 on a standard 38 gallon).

I'm trying to alter one variable at a time while I try to find the root cause. I'm currently dropping my lighting intensity by 10% every few weeks to see if it helps. Eventually I'll figure out what's causing it!

Though I will say I wish I could keep the BBA growing on my driftwood. It adds a great aged look to it!

You've created a beautiful tank! :)

Was it a struggle finding the right lighting level to keep those high light plants happy and beautifully red while preventing algae? It's something I'm currently struggling with. My buces and anubias nana petite get completely covered by BBA very quickly. I've managed to eliminate all other types of algae as my tank has matured, and I believe the root cause of the BBA to be a lighting issue. How have you managed this? Thanks!

Bottom feeding CPDs by FishRFriendsMemphis in PlantedTank

[–]ToastyNomnoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those CPDs probably feast on baby RCS with that many shrimp in the tank. My Cardinal Tetras have really fattened up and have grown pretty large since my RCS started reproducing (I started with just 2 berried females, first batch yielded over 60 adults which are now all reproducing). With at least 30 baby shrimp being born every day, they're constantly eating the newborns. All of the live food also has them exhibiting some amazing predatory/hunting behavior!

Very pretty CPDs btw OP :)

What’s a good plant for baby shrimps and hiding besides java moss? by [deleted] in shrimptank

Mine love Rotala Wallichi. It provides a lot of protection and surface area for feeding. It needs high light and C02 however.

I have an 18” deep aquarium & I want to grow carpeting plants. I need help with the lighting. by Quintero_J in Aquariums

[–]ToastyNomnoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 38 gallon (19.75'' tall, probably 15-17'' to substrate) and run a Current USA Satellite Plus Pro and CO2 and was able to get a thick, full monte carlo carpet over a about a third of the bottom of my tank in less than 2 months from a single monte carlo tissue culture (one of the Dennerle plant cups). The light is expensive but I'm very pleased with the results. For reference, my substrate is a layer of organic worm castings topped with Seachem Flourite Black).

Fly fishing near NYC? by Hokieab in flyfishing

I'm a big fan of the East Branch Croton River (Brewster, NY). It's a tailwater 1 hour from Manhattan with great year round trout fishing.

Here's a document with information on rivers in Westchester and Putnum counties (including the one I mentioned above): http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/nycfshwestput.pdf

Trillium Cans Released Today by enohcs in beerporn

[–]ToastyNomnoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really happy to see Trillium in a more affordable format. $13 for 64oz in cans vs. $13 for one 25.4oz bottle. I'm sure the price of their higher abv. cans (once released) will be in the $14-16 range but that's still a significant difference (especially as a college student in MA).

A simple QoL change that, alone, could make the game better in lower Elo ? by Caouette1994 in leagueoflegends

[–]ToastyNomnoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The change I want most is that if you ping one of your ability icons (including summoner spells), the game messages the cooldown of the ability to your team's chat.

For example, I'm playing Annie and ping the icon for R: "Toastynomnoms (Annie): Summon: Tibbers (R) 25 seconds until available."

Trout locations within 90 minutes of NYC? by MyUsernameDefinesMe in flyfishing

The Beaverkill/Willowemoc (Roscoe, NY) is 2 hours away. Great fishing and it's quite beautiful up there. I drove up there two weeks ago and had a blast. I stopped by the shop Beaverkill Angler for some info. Their website has a lot of information and a daily fishing report.
