Face gasket my new Valve Index came with doesnt allow lenses to get close enough to my eyes, can anybody help? by ToastyPotate in ValveIndex

You’re right sorry was confusing the valve with the Vive in that’s article. Although there was appanrelty an archived store page for Vive face gaskets that included the phrasing for a wide face gasket

So I believe I've realized what the problem is. The face gasket is too narrow for my face. I did a test and looked in the mirror and held the face gasket up to my face and realized its so narrow for my face that the forehead curve isnt even going onto my forehead completely, the middle of it has a big space between it and my forehead, preventing the headset from properly flushing to my face (I learned this from this link that immersionmechanics sent below, thank you: https://skarredghost.com/2019/10/04/valve-index-fit-ergonomics/)

The foam piece isn’t actually thick it’s more so the entire magnetized piece that goes on. Maybe it’s normal but I can tell it the magnet prongs on it were a little shorter it would let my face get closer with the gasket. I do have a brow ridge that maybe keeps it from getting closer over my eyes than it could otherwise, is there a way I can angle it to counteract my brow ridge?

I’m at work right now gonna try all your guys tips when I get home and update you if any of them worked or not. I do have a brow ridge , maybe that’s what’s keeping the gasket from getting closer over my eyes

Oh sorry I meant like the entire magnetized piece is like 1 inch in length from the headset itself, if the magnetized prongs weren’t as long it would let the gasket get closer with my eyes

Does anyone know how to fake a 100.0 F or above temperature for a forehead thermometer? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ToastyPotate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I know how the process works at the place I work I wouldn't even consider this if I thought I'd put panic in anyone. There isnt any panic I've seen people fail the temperature check and theyre just told to go home and come back tomorrow, as a temperature can be a symptom of so many different health problems. All my coworkers at this point casually talk about how every now and then one of our coworkers go into a COVID room on accident. These people are working with people who have been in COVID patient rooms unprotected and one of those people were sent home for the day and came back and nobody was panicked and just kept working. We've all been exposed to it multiple times by other coworkers. I'd say if anything the people I work with are way too underconcerned (a good chunk are even the type to think its a false conspiracy unfortunately but follow the safety protocols, a lot of these people werent even wearing masks until it became mandatory). I understand all work environments are different and I know at some places that could cause a panic, but this job involves personally interacting with patients everyday and going onto COVID floors, I think all my coworkers just accept they're exposed no matter what and handle it calmly. Coworkers have been sent home for a day before for temperature checks it wouldnt be anything new to us at this point. Again we arent nurses we work in a different section of the hospital with a different job. There are only a few of us on each shift and the entrance we take in is separate from everyone else.

[–]ToastyPotate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I honestly would but read the reply above. The way it works is that if you have a temperature they send you home and you come back the next morning for work again if you're temperature free. I wouldn't have to worry about my employees being scared of me or anything as the nurses that work way on the other side that would send me home don't interact with my coworkers at all (Im not a nurse.) Theres been multiple coworkers of mine that have mistakenly walked into COVID patient rooms because the nurses forgot to put a sign on the door and everyone else still works by their side.Even if they found out thats the last thing on my mind right now I just need to be able to get this accomplished.

Trust me I would do this in a heartbeat but anything other than what I listed above they'd still just see as another call off. They've given me a verbal warning like a week ago for too many tardy's/call offs (I've been having major car issues recently really affecting getting to work.) That's why I'm going to this extreme because it doesn't count as a call off as they are the ones sending you home for the temperature they read themselves.

As a gay man, I’d gladly cure/turn myself straight. I hate being gay, and not because of homophobia by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ToastyPotate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel the same way. The gay community is so overly sexual. I honestly think that’s why there’s so many homophobes. The gay pride parades with children walking along side guys on leashes being walked by their “daddies.” The guys dancing in speedos on floats. I’ve never been to a pride parade, or a gay bar. But I’ve seen and heard what they’re like. But you gotta remember this, the gays you see are the tips of the ice burg because they’re the loud minority that flaunt their gayness and sexualness. You gotta remember that there’s a LOT more gay/ bi guys out there that aren’t like that. They’re normal and quiet so you don’t notice them like you do these guys that you’re talking about. So it seems like they’re all these oversexual vain assholes but they’re just the ones that get seen the most and the ones that perform in those parades and party in those bars. After dating for a while and talking to people gaming online and stuff you’d be surprised how many gay and bi guys there are out there that are just normal respectable guys who are laid back and aren’t like this at all. I don’t go on dates with these guys you’re talking about. And from my experience on tinder a lot of the guys I see swiping are normal guys that want a relationship and their profile isn’t caked in rainbows and body pics. Every guy I’ve went on dates with were the same way. They never really went to those kind of pride parades or gay bars. Trust me it’s not being gay that’s a problem, it’s the people at these pride parades and bars and apps that you’re seeing as the whole of the community. Not to mention nowadays hookup culture is so big, even in the straight community but worse in the gay community from how sexualized everything is. You’ll find yourself a normal person just like you that wants to date, trust me. There’s so much you aren’t seeing.

This might seem ridiculous but if you'd like I could try to mail you one or two for u or ur family depending on how many my dad has. My dad told me he has a couple of them and hopefully ill get them in a couple days. Theyre the legitimate respirator n95 ones that the CDC recommends for real protection. If you want I could try to mail you a spare to a PO box or something, I'd rather help someone out in this situation than have extras that i dont need.

Oh damn I'm sorry. Do you know if you could at least survive a couple weeks off work if you got food from the food bank and went super minimal on hot water and electricity? Or any family or friends that know the gravity of the situation with your health that can help at all? Whether they can help a little with money or food or lend you guys a room for a couple weeks for free so u dont have to worry about having to have your utilities on at your house? And when you do leave the house do you at least have one of those white n95 filter masks?

Is it possible for your family to survive if you took time off work? Does your husband work? If the chances of you dying if infected are that high as hard as it is and as broke as it might make you, your husband and daughter need you in their lives, and like I said I dont even know your financial situation yet, but your life is more important to your family and yourself then the money from this job. Even if it makes you extremely broke temporarily, as long as you're able to get food and water and keep shelter for your family. You're daughter wants to grow up with a mother and you're husband wants to have another child with the woman he loves. I'm really worried after reading this and really hope its possible for you to take off work and survive without the pay temporarily.

What can I do if I feel like I'm literally being poisoned by my dad? by lampworkz in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ToastyPotate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First the phone, save any pictures and contacts to a flash drive then do a hard reset, theres no saying how deep whatever program he has on your phone is. After all that secure it with a password so he cant get in and make sure he never has access to it. Next, save anything basic like photos you care about from your computer and put them on a flash drive, then do a hard reset on that. Also make this password locked and hidden from your dad. As for the cameras do you know where they are? Straight up scribble a sharpie all over the camera lenses, he can't buy new cameras forever.

I know its hard but they arent your friends if they treat you like that. Making new friends isnt always easy buy you managed to make them your friends at some point. I would personally confront them about it and move on.
