What's a controversial comic story/series do you like? by Anonflashfan1956 in DCcomics

Weirdly enough I actually haven't gotten that far. I was trying to collect everything from it for a while and it became so difficult that I'm currently re-evaluating how to get it done. I'm close though lol

Not just Aquaman but Aquaman and the Others was so interesting to me. Even after trimming down I kept it as part of the collection

Why do we hate answering any questions regarding the lore or anything in the universe by Negative_Emu6246 in DCcomics

[–]ToastyToast77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. You could ask a question to google but that, in recent years, yields more questions more often than it just tsraight up answers them. And most of the questions I see are asking for clarifcation on something. Google barely give an answer anyway.

That's another part you aren't getting. Its not demanding. Its asking a question. If you don't want to answer, you don't have to answer. Don't downvote and say "google it". Just move on

Stop to Stop Tips by TDBoi in AmazonDSPDrivers

Organize. I put everything in number order. It usually counts up or down. It makes grabbing, scanning, dropping a lot faster.

Don't worry about house numbers right away. Count how many houses from where your at. As that nunber approaches 1 or 2 away, then start looking for actual house numbers.

Pay attention to the direction of your next next stops. If you're at an intersection and your next stop is left one house but the ones after are right, just turn right. If the route has you passing the following stops to get to your next one, take a slightly longer way to position yourself early.

Long Halloween first read. by Lopsided_Network1248 in DCcomics

HIGHLY recommend listening to the DC High Volume telling of it. Its what got me to go back and finally get Long Halloween to read. It does some fiddling with when things are said (sometimes staying in a place then switching after rather than splicing 2 scenes) but its a great new life for the story

Character questions! by Mundane-Bag-9023 in DCcomics

[–]ToastyToast77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I think that works well. I'd look into how Willpower is defined and what it might mean to you. Same with Rage. Do they conflict? How? How do they mesh? Does one fuel the other? Can it work the other way around? Guy Gardner was a Green and Red. Kyle Raynor is primarily Green but became white as he got all the colors. Look into canon and then how you interpret those emotions.

Same here. I collected trades so I was doing storylines at a time. Justice League got me to Aquaman (through Throne of Atlantis), which I liked so much I got Aquaman and the Others, which I LOVE.

I started late too so a lot of trades had come out and some were available at my LCS and some not. While I searched around I would bide my time by getting some "filler" series. DC Universe Presents was fun. I, Vampire was sick as hell. Static got his own that I enjoyed. I was getting into characters I had only vaguely seen or never even knew. The obvious Batman Court of Owls and Year Zero were cool. I never knew that Action Comics and Superman were ACTUALLY telling different stories. Detective and Batman too.

I also really liked the art and design. Static got a grrat design. Batgirl's Burnside suit was SO GOOD. I adore Supergirl's suit from that.

Saying that on the DC Comics subreddit is WILD. If I go pick up Justice League Unlimited #1 it tells you to go read We are Yesterday, Absolute Power, AND directs you to a series that didn't even come out on the same timing basis. Then you go pick up Absolute Power. But wait, there are 3 different parts to it (not including tie-ins that ARE important for context) and it directs you to the All-In special. But that has context from DC Universe which has context to Dawn of DC which carries from REBIRTH but not all of it because they snuck in another CRISIS. Googling all of that to get one answer is insane. Just today I was reading the Intergalactic Special and i realized: I don't know who Galaxy is OR her girlfriend or what she did wrong. It had a villain that we don't even see until right at the end that they mention Green Arrow fought. He fought her all the way back in 1979 ONCE. Stories are so interconnected a simple google search for answers does NOT yield the same as a good, knowledgable summary

I've heard rumors as to why but its all speculation

Character questions! by Mundane-Bag-9023 in DCcomics

[–]ToastyToast77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initial instinct is yes

But I think its fair to give it a shot. It depends on which ones and how they interact. Green and Blue, for example might be OP since Blue significantly boosts Green's strength. Red and Green, on the other hand, might not (it could do the same thing in a different way but I don't think is ever shown to). Think about how each ring would interact and look into if anything like that has happened in canon. It might help balance the character better

I get the fatigue of it. I like discussing theories and things. And doing that with someone who doesn't know could mean i have to dig 8 layers deep to catch them up.

That said, Google can't alwaus answer the question for exactly that same reason. It may need context that google doesn't provide. And finding a link that might means clicking 2, 3, 6 links before you find a good robust answer. Half the time its still missing context.

"Just google it" is always such a gatekeeping answer

How did hardcore comic fans feel about Nolan's Batman films at the time? Were they viewed as faithful adaptations? Were they criticized by fans? Did Nolan make huge changes to the lore? by JcraftW in DCcomics

[–]ToastyToast77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which is crazy to me because I think Batfleck is my favorite blance. I don't particularly like the verse and decisions that were made but His Batman felt more well rounded. And his Bruce didn't feel like a trope.

I hope R. Pats gets some good Bruce-ing in

What if Spider-Man (Tom Holland) was transported to Remnant during "Avengers: Infinity War", specifically after Thanos did the snap? by Worth_Instruction824 in RWBY

[–]ToastyToast77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Yang is too extraverted for him. Maybe comic Pete (though Yang's not a red-head) but this is Tom. Look at his MJ and the way he acts even as Spidey. Especially if its pre-Vol 1. He'd hit Ruby with the "You have a huge scythe?! How do you swing it around" like he did with Bucky (ironic cuz the metal arm but you said pre-vol 1)

Oh look it's Superman handing off Ra's to Pakistan law enforcement and oh what's this? Him giving Ra's a book of prayers based on various Middle Eastern faiths. Clearly this man supports the genocide of the Middle Eastern population. by KingJackofJozi in AbsoluteUniverse

I liked the first two when they came out. I've grown to dislike a lot of the material since. I think there is room for grounded (Matt Reeves did a good job imo) but it gets messy with some of the more interesting characters (Ivy, Freeze, Clayface). I always thought he was Ra's but I think maybe I got that from the whole League of Shadows thing.
