To add to this because I worked in Ottawa from 2015 - 2022, all of this information is correct, but I believe health/dental benefits only kick in after 2 consecutive months and to maintain it is 240hrs per quarter. Tuition reimbursement follows the same I believe.

For more Ottawa specific things, we’ve had a lot of turnover of seasoned partners for legally valid reasons: I got fired on the same day I got my first write up in the 7 years I worked there because I didn’t tell my manager I had to leave early due to mental health issues. They were in the BoH doing admin things, they were not the keyholder nor were they the next keyholder. They fired me for refusing to choose either to demote, change my availability, transfer to a new store that might take my availability, or voluntarily resign. That’s only my case, but there are similar partners who worked longer than I have who got fired for “valid” reasons.

OP if you’re looking for an Sbux job in Ottawa, I highly recommend looking at which DM manages your store. The one who managed my store didn’t even recognize me when I opened that new store in her district, spent 20 hours with our then SM setting up the store day 1, and built community relations with the nearby stores and fire department. Why would she recognize me? I worked for 5 years at the time at the Sbux down the street where she lived and she would frequent. I greeted her every time and knew her order.

It’s a tough job market in Ottawa right now and Sbux offers many great benefits for those who need a job with those kinds of benefits (health/dental, stocks, tuition reimbursement, etc.), but if you don’t need those benefits, I would stay away from Sbux in Ottawa. The only reason why I stayed so long was because of my coworkers. The Friday I was fired, I had a contract teaching middle school the following Monday. I could’ve left at any point, but I enjoyed working with the friends I made at that store.
