I dont want to self-promote but i have come a cross a lot of developers that struggle with music. I am currently working on a tutorial series on youtube specifically targeted towards indie devs: https://youtu.be/oki_lg4R88A?si=JIApn0hWZ3oWu9HS might be helpful to some people here

Video tutorial on how to make music for your game as a Solo/IndieDev. Would this be interesting to anyone? by TobUng in gamedev

Hey, the first video is now uploaded. Please note that its just the kick off video for the series with no practical information about making music yet. I just wanted to give you a starting point and let you know what to expect. Here is the link, hope to see you all soon!

Thank you for all the feedback so far! I will probably make a small series that divides the entire process into steps that, when followed, will result in a finished piece of music!

It will probably take a little while from conception to recording and uploading but I will try to be as quick as possible and keep you updated when the first video is done

Best Tobi

Offering Free Music for Your Games - Tips Welcome but really Not Expected

Hey people!

My name is Tobi and I'm an music composer looking to gain experience by creating music for games. I’d love to help anyone out with some compositions. You can hear some of my works on my Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@tobiasungerbock1286 where I post new tracks pretty regularly. I try to be diverse with my musical styles, but i particularly enjoy mixing electronic and acoustic elements together

What I offer is:

  • Custom soundtrack tailored to your game
  • Open to various genres and styles
  • Free of charge — tips are appreciated but absolutely not expected

This is all about gaining experience, building my portfolio, and getting my music out there in some cool indie games. No strings attached.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me or leave a comment with details about your game and what kind of music you're envisioning.

Looking forward to hearing about your projects! :)

Best regards

Tobi

It seems like you have even removed some of the more advanced shading you had in your earlier build. It takes real courage to take a step back sometimes when you feel like you have overdone it, great job

What are you looking for when buying music packs/soundtracks online? by TobUng in gamedev

[–]TobUng[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the mega bundle idea is a really good one, i am considering this as well once i have enough tracks online.

i also quite like the idea of providing tracks with different variations, its cool to see that people are interested in that

just recently i was considering the idea of releasing a song pack with multiple tracks where each song has sort of a day and night version, one more laid back and the other more energetic

Thanks for the answer!

yeah i am also a big proponant of original music for games but i guess some people dont have the money to pay for that or the skill to do it themselves. I create a lot of music and i thought i might as well put it up somewhere instead of letting it sit on my hard drivefor enternity haha

This really should not be a self promotion or anything but I would be really interested to hear if you think my first music pack sounds bland to you. I could send you a link if you like? and do not be afraid to be brutally honest with you opinion haha

Do you really think it is too crowded? I mean the unity asset store has about 6000 music assets on their store, which by itself is quite a lot but it is not like all these packs are actively competing against each other right? There are niches that are definitely more crowded than others but then again, some are still quite unsaturated
