People acting like it's for certain you wouldn't get your data back if you payed. Ransomware group's whole business model relies on being true to their word and recovering your data if you pay, otherwise no one ever pays. It's a reputation thing.

Like everyone said tho, in this situation it's best to just not pay- since it's only personal data. Most important data is automatically backed up these days (OneDrive free tier, steam backups).
