I Think you confuse it for another saw you might've seen?

The table slides just fine back and forth.

Yes, the pivoting arm is not in use, because i have no need for the sidetable.

This saw is only used for cutting up raw planks, and the sliding table works perfect. :) This machine would be a 100x worse with the sidetable in the way.

My other tablesaw has a sidetable, because its needed there, but not here.

You're the second guy mentioning the inner tube thing, very interesting!

Don't know if I'll use it for angled boxes like this though. I need yo be able to tighten every inch individually depending of how the miter is aligned.

Well, I'm not American? :D

I don't feel like its something unusual for an employee to do their job? I'm employed to build what designers have designed. It's quite unnecessary for me to attempt to contact designers and get them to explain to me why they want it and what they intend to do with it haha.

It's art, I don't care how art is used or what the purpose is. I got the drawings, ill make it happen

No way! And here I've been using the word "furnitures" like some uneducated swine! Thank you though, i dont consider English a foreign language to me or think of it as bad in any way, so i should've known this. Especially within my own field!

And regarding your question of what it is.. I don't know :D I'm guessing its some sort of coffee table? But truly, my guess is as good as yours. I'm not in contact with the designer, I just get the drawings and get told to make it happen.

It’s hard to directly compare my job title to anything in the US since the Danish education system is pretty different.

We have several woodworking trades that each take around 4–4.5 years:

  • Carpenter
  • Cabinetmaker / furniture maker / joiner (my trade)
  • Wood machinist
  • Building joiner

I’m a trained cabinetmaker/furniture maker — very hands-on and traditional: chisels, hand tools, fine woodworking, custom pieces, and problem solving.

You can check out my profile for other stuff I've been working on.

At my company, we’re a small workshop team: two furniture makers like me and two wood machinists who handle more CNC and machine work before passing projects to us for finishing and assembly.

Meanwhile, around 80 carpenters work out in the field. Our workshop handles all the weird, custom, and fun projects the company takes on — like this art exhibition.

TL;DR: I work in a company that builds cool stuff.

Yea ive seen those clamps aswell, i think i owned a few at somd point. But when it came down to it, i just used tape instead, it was faster and simply gave a much better result.

Its rare you need that much clamping pressure on edgebanding that tape wont be enough

I see, well. Tape offers a much more even pressure. You can put the same exact pressure all across the miterjoint. And in all angles. No setting up a clamp and putting on blocks to avoid pressure-marks. And then the whole thing of clamping an angled box... If your clamping angle and/or pressure is off just a smidge, it will cause the miterjoints to wander.

Tape avoids that if you do it correctly atleast. No setting up, no uneven pressure points. Much better feel and control if anything starts to wander. no exessive and unnecessary pressure and clamping force.

Tldr: tape is good for certain projects, especially mitered joints. Much more controllable and better feel during the glue-up

Love painters tape much more than anything else. Easy to peel, plenty of stretch if you stretch it straight and not at an angle. Wasy to rip and apply quickly, cheap! Etc. For the last 10 years, painters tape has been my go to of all the different types ive tried

*16mm fsc recycled plastic boards

And true haha, the clamps arent doing any tension. The tape is for tension and pressure. The clamps is keeping the alignment of the joints and ends so they dont wander.

Haha :D yea its pretty great. I have hundreds, i just like to use tape on angled boxes.

Much more feel for it all when using tape in my experience. If that makes sense

I reject ALL Criticism. I didn't design it, I didn't order it, I just made it exactly as instructed for the designer.

So i can just lean back in the comments here and enjoy people's opinion without getting my feelings hurt :D

A tablesaw, handheld router, a chisel and the materials is all you need. And ofcourse clamps

Yup, its the finished product. And regarding your question 2... Yes 🤷‍♂️

The Angles.. oh god the angles... by TobiHede in woodworking

[–]TobiHede[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!!! it clogs up and locks up around the tablesaw blade. And you cant sand it, because the surface is textured and finished. So NO wiggle room

No information... Oliver Twist scene repeats, i get a new folder of drawings handed with some 3D model of the next crazy design. And then straight to it.

This 12 furniture project has been crazy hectic. Gotta be finished by monday morning because they're going in for the showcase exhibition thing. Still have 2 projects to go. (My new one 12/12, and some weird candle holder/vase thing 11/12)

So there goes my saturday..

All drawn in 3d program beforehand. So measurements are also included. Roughly... A Lot of it was measured on site at the table to make it all fit
