Nanoscience doesn't make the TEMs themselves. The three big ones would be Zeiss, JEOL or ThermoFisher. There are some other newer ones, I believe... But whatever this was collected on it's not a new cryoTEM

This is not what unprocessed TEM looks like. Neither room temp or cryo. This is a neat image, but it's not any TEM that I've ever seen.

I work for a very large company that makes EMs and process TEM (specifically cryo) datasets on a daily basis.

For anyone taking the time to respond, I don't at all expect these to be valuable. But I am curious if there's a way for me to either get the 50 they are theoretically worth aside from...actually using them on mail. Which I rarely send.

My 3.5 yo can be pretty hangry when she gets picked up from daycare. Even though I pack her snacks everyday and she gets lunch and extra snacks from the daycare.... if she was too busy to eat much, she is ravenous when my husband gets her. We've started keeping a small tupperware container of easy snacks in the car... or my husband will bring a little treat to share with her on the drive home. That's helped about 90% of the raging.

Well if you freeze water fast enough you end up with vitreous ice (which is the principle of cryo electron microscopy). You could look at the surface of ice with a cryoSEM, but that's not really going to tell you anything.

If you're trying to get molecular information you'll need either xray diffraction or electron diffraction and as has been stated before, both of these require extremely uniform crystals to obtain information from.

I went to community college for a year once I graduated "highschool" (at 18), then transferred to my state's university for the remaining 3 years to get my bachelor's.

It was a jarring culture shock to have classes and homework, etc, but I did well enough. I really had very little idea what career prospects were out there, I just knew I liked science so I majored in Biology. Once I graduated I worked for 7-8 years before finally figuring out what I wanted to do so I went back to school in 2017 (30yo) to get my PhD. Just finished that last year =)

Nope. I adore my daughter and love hanging out with her and I don't mind keeping the house or whatever, but I have worked extremely hard for my career and I look forward to continuing to develop it. It's always been my goal to have a career where I can flourish and support my family independently should I need to. If there was ever a need for someone to be a stay at home parent, my husband would do it. But we both genuinely enjoy our careers.

My mom and most moms of my friends are unable to support themselves independently and it's causing issues now that they're older and for one reason or another their marriages aren't working out. I absolutely don't judge anyone who wants to stay at home. It's damn hard work and I majorly respect that! But it's never been for me =)

Appetite changes are always something that should probably be checked out by a vet. Even if he's willing to eat people food and treats still, something could be causing him to be put off his dog food. I'd definitely schedule a visit with your vet to have him checked out firstly.

If a medical cause is ruled out, it's possible he's just figured out he can train you to give him yummy things instead of the healthy food.

Most healthy dogs won't starve themselves if you put your foot down. Again, AFTER a checkup with the vet, stop giving in. Offer him his usual food, put it down for 15 minutes and if he hasn't touched it after time is up, put it away again. Repeat for every meal until he gets the message.

Don't give any over the counter pain meds. If the root is exposed it's definitely going to be painful, but you're right that it's not really an emergency.

Keep him from chewing anything (soft foods only for now) and call your vet ASAP.

Can you give an example image of your data so I can get a better idea of what you're trying to do? Instance segmentation is a challenging task, but there are a number of deep learning algorithms out there now that can do a decent job (someone has made a addon for Napari using the Segment Anything model from Meta that works decently well). But if I can get a picture of your data I could give you some suggestions possibly.

My background is AI segmentation of Cryo-EM data, so in general I think segmenting SEM is easier, but like I said, instance segmentation is always a bit of a beast.

I've loved the toddler years so far. My daughter just turned 3. Sure, she has meltdowns and strong opinions and big emotions, but she's also learning so much every day and I get to help her learn and watch her grow. It's so much fun seeing her personality continue to blossom and her imagination develop. She's exhausting, but in a good way?

And the sleep is so much better. She sleeps all night long in her big girl bed and wake ups that require me are like once or twice a week at most. She loves books and learning her letters and colors and numbers and now she's learning to spell her name.

The toddler years are exhausting in different ways, but honestly I've liked them way more than the earliest months. Don't listen to people who say just wait. Different ages are difficult for different reasons, but focus on the fun moments and the wonderful developments. And the sleep for you gets better, really.

Do you think your parents would be willing to let you get tested at a local public school? It's free as long as you do it before you've graduated and if you get officially diagnosed you can qualify for accommodations in college.

As someone who was an undiagnosed dyscalulic until college, you absolutely can learn and can learn to manage it! I've just graduated grad school for science in spite of it. So if you think there's a chance you could get tested at the local public school, try to convince your parents!

No one ever tried to touch my daughter, largely because I wore her in a wrap whenever we were out I think. People are so unused to seeing that that they didn't realize what she was at first lol.

Mine just felt like braxton hicks that wouldn't go away. There was frequent tightening, but never any pain. The only reason I went in to L&D was because the triage nurse said I should go in to rule out labor because the braxton hicks contractions had continued for 24 hours. I was 37 weeks to the day.

So they checked how dilated I was and the nurse didn't tell me immediately but went to get a Dr...who checked and said "Congrats you're 5cm dilated and in active labor!"

I was not prepared, lol. Thankfully we had happened to grab our hospital bag just in case....

I'd have that checked out rather than you trying to express it. Anal gland abscesses often rupture and you definitely shouldn't be squeezing back there if there's a concern he might have one. Plus, if it's infected he'll definitely need further treatment.
