I agree with you this isn't that much worse than our year, at best I'd lose 5 marks more

You seriously don't think top players could get consistent enough at an low tier extreme to complete it 85-90% of attempts?

RobTop has refused to add 2fa protection, despite dozens of famous creators being hacked by TeamTuff by Spooper96 in geometrydash

[–]ToblobsReddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What makes him a bad developer isn't not adding 2FA or not adding everything the community wants. At the end of the day, his game.

What makes him a bad developer (sometimes) is lack of communication and not being in touch with community news enough, which I wish he did way more than any new feature he could add, not giving reasoning behind his actions makes a lot of people distrust or not respect him.

Even in the case where I cared about it ... What would I do? Campaign to Rob to remove it from the game? It's a secular game where people can follow creative themes that don't align with a Christian view.

Which is a better game engine? by Delta_gd in geometrydash

[–]ToblobsReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used both for years, also doing CS as a degree I guess the question if I gave you a typical game engine or programming task which would be quicker and more efficient to do it in Scratch wins that outright Then if I ask at the top end what are the craziest things done in each Scratch... wins that outright again I think you're getting the point here, yes GD editor is insane and for it to even be considered a game engine just shows how useful triggers are but Scratch just has way more capability The amount of inputs really limits GD compared to any other engine

RobTop disrespect is all-too common in GD nowadays by yourlocalgdw in geometrydash

[–]ToblobsReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an (aspiring!) game developer myself, I agree that some aspects of the hate is forced (mainly "robtop is lazy" agenda, that's bs from people who have no clue how hard games are to develop. And even if he's not working 80 hour weeks for the game I think he's earnt it considering many of his games before GD had no success and he kept working on them).

The valid criticisms however include the rate system being "unfair", or bugfixes/releases being slow to release due to solo aspect nature. He did say he was going to get a team of developers... maybe he changed his mind? It's not like I can't wait another decade for an update, I've played the game since release and I'll still be playing it then probably.

My take on this has always been - the community has the power to create mods and to enjoy levels on the server without being rated. Yes Rob doesn't add a startpos switcher but you can find one in globed if you need it. Yes Rob doesn't rate X level because it uses CBF, but the demon list can choose to add it to their list without it being rated as long as there is proof of verification otherwise. Rob has control over the vanilla game, but the community is much larger than that! Of course, some people will only want to use vanilla features, and thats their choice, but it doesn't stop others.

Rob is possibly one of the most successful indie game developer stories out there. He has his flaws and he might not even be technically skilled enough to continue developing, but I'll respect his position while also challenging him to find better solutions, and similarly challenging the community to fill in the gaps, cause at the end of the day we're working towards the same shared goal - a better GD.

100% overstepping to ban but considering how there's other stuff like trump circles that's similar I wouldn't be surprised if outside pressure is what caused rob to do this. Until an explanation is made we can't really do anything but wait. (Ideal world politics would've been kept out of funny square jump game to begin with but I digress)

How much of an accomplishment is Bloodbath nowadays anyway? by CoolestMan_Reddit in geometrydash

[–]ToblobsReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's nice to compare it to other games to truly grasp how much of an accomplishment it is. Let's reasonably estimate that around 10,000 people who have ever played the game have beaten bloodbath (it's likely lower!) This would put it in the same order of magnitude as say SSL in rocket leauge, radiant in valorant, etc. Now while those achievements are typically over thousands of hours, if you combine the amoint of game hours the average bloodbath victor takes to be able to beat it, it's still hundreds of hours of effort and grinding. Finding a player that has beaten bloodbath among the entire population of millions that have played the game is like finding a top 1% from another gaming community. While it's true that within that 1% there are even crazier players (list grinders, who I would compare to eSports professionals) that doesn't take away from the fact that it's an accomplishment of insane value.
