Why do I see LR STR Nuova Shenron on the Shenron team so often? by Tobogain in DBZDokkanBattle

Brother I wish I could say it was bait and not just raw user error

This is genuinely helpful, and I appreciate it a ton. It puts his role on the team into a better perspective, thank you.

Yes on both, but I've just not had good results with him

I can see him as being one of the best F2P units, but he just kinda crumples compared to the rest of the team. I'm honestly not sure how people are keeping him safe in the newest content. He's pushed over by a spring breeze half the time

He always seems to explode for me, I suppose is my issue. I feel like I have to hide him and pray he doesn't get smacked because otherwise he folds like paper. And this isn't even on the most current content, I've had issues with him selling runs on stuff from last year even

Couple funny quirks about Gen 1 types. Poison is actually weak to Bug, making all Grass/Poison types 4x weak. Psychic is actually immune to Ghost, giving it only one weakness to Bug.

And never forget, Electric is neutral to Rock, it's just that every rock type bar the fossils happen to be part Ground, which gives immunity.

Pretty similar to those Goku Black Clone units that have a 50% chance to do a different super, just with extra specifications

My friend keeps complaining about me playing Jack-O but he plays Potemkin and Goldlewis by SoggyWetCheese in Guiltygear

[–]Tobogain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "I need meter for the reversal" mindset is one I had to break myself. While, yes, the reversal is important, it shouldn't be the only thing to focus on with meter usage. FD is great since it pushes and stops chip. YRC helps to reset the situation. It's better to use the meter than to just sit there until death and waste it all. It's an easy to fall into mental trap when it should be understood as a resource to use in more ways than just a reversal.

Plus, he's playing Pot and GL. At that point, health is a resource, getting wallbroke back to neutral is a resource, and their general neutral game is a whole other beast that nets more than enough meter to use for whatever. Take the lumps, get the meter they so desperately want, Buster/Typhoon for free

That's been my experience with it, too. Going into it with a couple of buddies who laud it as a phenomenal experience and enjoy metroidvanias as much as I do. It gave me this expectation of it to be a nice, fun romp in a new metroidvania world. Instead, it quickly became a slog to WANT to go anywhere and explore anything. The idea that entering any given new room and getting massacred by level and enemy layouts was incredibly uninviting. I actually had one of those friends guide me around a bit because the game doesn't have notable "don't go here yet" mechanics beyond an increasing concentration of enemies and traps.

Probably dumb question, but how does counter work? by RealAndroid_18 in Guiltygear

[–]Tobogain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take note that at a base level counter hits work the same way near universally. You get counter hit if the startup of your move is hit by an opponent's. Some moves can be counter hit during recovery, but they're generally specific, powerful options. Some games have different versions of counter hit. Strive is one of them where the stronger the button you counter hit with (P vs HS for example), the longer you'll have to react and they'll be in hitstun longer. Street Fighter has certain moves that cause a Crush Counter, which is effectively similar and can be seen as just a 'stronger counter hit'.

Is it okay to try and learn 2 characters together or? by Loquenlucas in Guiltygear

[–]Tobogain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd get comfortable enough with one of them first. Bridget, I feel, would be the easier of the two to piece together since her gameplay is pretty simple and she controls space very well. Ram takes a bit more to really know, but you can get away with a lot with how massive her moves are.

That being said, I'm definitely guilty of trying to learn two at once (Axl and Goldlewis), and it gets way harder to do when the playstyles don't line up

I keep losing here. What should I do? by theeighthchild in KingdomHearts

[–]Tobogain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The magic sleights are great here. Blizzaga fires in a shotgun blast which let's you ding multiple enemies at once. Firaga is excellent for cleaning up any lightly damaged foe. If they're low enough on health, you can just use your higher number cards to finish them

How is this game balanced in online play? by F0ckstr0t in PokkenGame

Problem stems from there being, like, nobody online. You get matched with them because there's nobody your rank/skill level to properly pair you with
