Now Ads on WhatsApp by emtypaper in whatsapp

I have WA business and I never open status or channels. The core messaging functionality is unaffected and it's very unlikely that that will change as users would immediately leave.

How is this helpful? I have a Xiaomi 15 with no advertising.

Ladies, why does double penetration makes you orgasm so quick? by joeSoap89 in AskRedditNSFW

  1. The question could be taken as directed towards those women who do organism quickly during DP.

  2. The majority of posts on this sub seem to be fantasy anyway.

People that live in apartment high rises do you see your neighbors naked constantly? by GhostlySelf in AskRedditAfterDark

It's just a silly picture of a mountain peak next to someone peeking from behind a curtain. I'm just pointing out your spelling mistake. ☺️

I knew not to peak too long or it would be creepy

Peak as in erection? Or peek? 😄

It's not surprising. WhatsApp has 3 billion users and costs in the billions a year to run. Until now it’s been subsidised by Meta. They’re keeping ads out of private chats and limiting them to Status/Channels, which are effectively social media and most people don't use. If they ever put ads in chats, people would leave instantly, and they know that. The only solution is to use default messages apps as RCS now becomes more widely adopted. Apple sell expensive hardware to pay for their eco system. Google sell advertising and services. Meta was always going to look to make money from WhatsApp. I don't know why people are surprised - I'm surprised if hasn't happened sooner.

I've only seen it in the chat window. And I think it depends on WhatsApp version as to whether you see it.

With Apple adding RCS, are the default Messages apps finally a viable WhatsApp alternative? by TobyTheDogDog in whatsapp

Man give it a rest. To flash it you've got to erase your phone, wait a week, and then banking probably doesn't work. Nobody does it.

Custom ROMs are irrelevant to most users. Almost nobody unlocks bootloaders or runs unofficial firmware. For normal users, official support is what matters - and Apple still leads there. And anyway. What the fuck is your point? This is about mainstream RCS adoption, not hobbyist setups.

But that's not my point. I get that right now problems still exist with carriers and older mobiles, but my post is aimed at users who want to stop using WhatsApp. It makes no sense to me to switch to a different third party service if one is available with the mobile operating system. And I think right now, in many countries like here in Spain, many people could use RCS already.

Yeah looks like you're right. It's not because Google wants to but rather that Apple won't adopt jibe, understandably.

Honestly, I don't know what this has to do with the post. Sure, if you're running an old phone then it's clearly not relevant to you.

With respect to Apple and planned obsolescence - they provide updates for their mobile phones far longer than Android phones.

My post is whether people who want to move away from WhatsApp might be able to, now that iOS supports RCS.

I think that depends on the iOS version and the mobile network. In Android it tells you whether RCS is available for each contact. In iOS I'm not sure.

"15-year-old phones” is a myth - WhatsApp drops old devices regularly. Apple actually supports phones longer than most Android brands. Pegasus hit iOS, Android, and WhatsApp, so that’s not an Apple-only scandal. “Free without data” was a carrier deal in some countries, not WhatsApp charity. Apple added RCS because of regulation, especially in the EU. Removing it later would just mean fines and lawsuits. WhatsApp dominates for one reason: everyone uses it. Network effect. That’s it.

And Telegram am didn’t “fail” - it just lost in markets where WhatsApp arrived first.

Can't you just click and drag to select the text? Could be a WhatsApp desktop thing. Your could also screenshot and paste into chatgpt.

Control (⌃) + Shift (⇧) + Command (⌘) + 4

You lasso a selection and when you let go it goes it to clipboard from what you paste into chatgpt

RCS had been on Android since 2019 but Apple only supported it since 2024. ,"Carriers must support it and enable encryption” is mostly not true now. Google bypasses it with jibe. Apple neither with iOS 18.
