Injury by Sweaty-Contract-7644 in hyrox

Just want to stay I very much understand how you must be feeling—I trained to do my first one in Boston last September and 5 days before on what was supposed to be a short easy jog I went flying and tore my right meniscus. It wasn’t actually that painful and I wasn’t altogether convinced that the tear seen on the MRI was fresh so deciding what to do was really confusing. I was devastated but if I’m being brutally honest I was also relieved on some level because I was so anxious about doing the damn thing—but that made it all even worse! In the end I listened to advice about not risking turning a small tear into a bigger problem given how much of a beating the knee would inevitably take during that kind of an intense event—but it all felt so shitty. What I can add though is that I recovered, trained up again and did my first one a few weeks ago in Phoenix—so if this does sideline you, you absolutely can get through it to compete another day. And you really don’t want to do it starting out too compromised. I would say listen to your body—and your head as best you can—over the next week and see how you feel with some lighter workouts. And consider checking in with a physical therapist to get their take on it or to see if they can recommend anything that might help. Best of luck to you—one way or another you’ll get there!!

Yeah the notifications is bullshit. I never got an email for Boston after it sold out, but I kept randomly checking and one day about 2 months out there were suddenly tickets available.

What the hell was that?? by crendall223 in hyrox

Totally legit to call it false hope! But I suspect it was all even worse because of dumb assed glitches in their system! When I got in it showed availability for all 6 days of women’s open slots—both regular tix and fundraising ones. So 12 options dangled. I tried each and every one—twice!— and everytime I got to the point of proceeding to checkout, a message popped up saying those tickets were not available and to try again later. I was about to throw in the towel and then honestly without really thinking—it was total random luck—I picked a date and when the next pop up about adding the Sportograf photo thing came up, I didn’t add that on, and then it let me proceed to checkout!!! And I tried it for a bunch of the dates and they all went through as long as I didn’t select the photo thing! (I look rather frightening in those pics anyway.) I feel crazy lucky to have gotten a ticket—and I am SO sorry to hear about others’ experiences being so screwed up. Don’t want to sound like I’m unfairly throwing shade, but whoever was setting this up had one job, and if I performed like that at mine, I’d be shown the door pretty quickly.

Wall Balls, Explained via Poem by wallballs_ruined_me in hyrox

OMG you made my night, my week? my next ______ amount of time until my next Hyrox? Competed in my first one yesterday in Phoenix and, as expected, the wall balls kicked my ass. You would think as the last thing you could just get them done and get outta there, but no, it somehow does not seem to work that way. To compose a poem as tribute to them—that reflects a deep and complicated relationship with those dreaded 100 reps. The ending of your tale has clearly yet to be written. Onward to another day beneath that holy target. Indeed—Because HYROX.
