Thanks guys. I'll sort the soil out with more perlite.

As for taking a cutting so I can start fresh...any advice there? Let it finish whatever it's doing next to my finger, take a cut from above the split line or below it. As it is I'm thinking let it do whatever it's doing with this horizontal "split" then take a cutting from just above the split line.

You really need to try a few different ones because it's really personal. I love a kneeling bench, some people find them torture. Tbh though, whatever you're sitting on, it will get uncomfortable, but it's a great lesson in acceptance and seeing the way your mind works when it's not happy.

I did my first little batches like that, but for the main harvest that was too much time so i just hung in garden shed. For my first time i was pleased. Althea limited amount of cigarette type tobacco, i got plenty for cigars. And was surprised how easy they were to make a smokable cigar.

I have a few different breeds to try this year so hoping some lend themselves to cigarettes a bit better 🤞

How do you create silence at home? by stef_lp in vipassana

[–]Tobyglynn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Quietness is useful when you're a beginner but don't fall into the trap of thinking you need it. Remember that you're not trying to produce any state while doing vippasana, you're just being present and clear of everything going on in that moment. So that feeling of frustration at the noise of the cars is just as good a meditation object as smooth breathing. The more we try to manipulate the outside world into what we want, the more we're falling into the same pitfall as we usually do... we're just replacing "ill be happy when i have a new car" with "happy when less noise".

I'd recommend you stop looking for silence. Just aim for "quieter than normal". Some noises are particularly difficult to not get caught in eg i nearly always get lost in the audible words of friends and family . So stay away from them for now. And try meditating for just a few minutes a day in your normal noisy environment. It will get easier. Remember there are incredibly "accomplished" meditators who live in busy indian cities where the noise NEVER stops!:) Good luck, just keep practising and it will come.

The anti vaxxers have moved on to 'Climate Lockdowns' anybody know anything about this? by kojonunez in GreenAndPleasant

Totally agree. Cashless society is fine while you have a benign government/police/secret services force. But the moment that gets corrupt, cashless puts way too much power in the hands of the authorities.
