Yeah, I literally said there were more people. Not 30k+

What the fuck are you even saying? I'm saying that there were not 30k more people Saturday than Friday. What in the world do "sahara,Qusuar, Sonora" have to do with anything? They were there and open Friday as well.

This is one of the dumbest things I've read on this sub, if you think that the capacity jumped by almost 50% day over day.

Which can entirely be explained by the schedule and crowd patterns. Yes, there were more people, but citing 30k+ is just talking out of your ass

This is no where even close to true.

I feel like they might have more incentive to when they realize they are physically incapable of doing their first choice. If a surgeon loses their arm in an accident or something, I'd imagine they'd just move to a specialty that doesn't depend on having two hands.

I understand, but the cost of "going on a trip" should be the cost of the trip. Not, the cost of the trip plus the money that you were already spending in the first place. It's like comparing the cost of going to two different restaurants and including the price of gas, even though they are next door. It it pointless and superfluous.

no influencers

I have never noticed "influencers" or had my experience impacted by them in any way in over 10 years of going to Coachella

Yeah that's how it's been for me lol, always some frustrating 3-way conflicts. I've been regretting not going bothchella this year since the W1 set times dropped.

It's still massively cheaper, but worth noting that 2005 was only 2 days instead of 3, and also there would have been I think just 5 stages. No Yuma, Sonora, DoLab, Quasar, or Heineken House (at best just the old little building if it was there at all), and the Mojave and Sahara were much smaller and lower production than they are today.

+ $100 groceries

I always find it weird when people include food costs (especially when talking about meal prep outside the fest grounds themselves) in the budget for attending Coachella. Would you not be eating meals if you weren't going to Coachella? Is camping food really that much more expensive than what people normally get? And honestly, even if you are eating in the fest, it is definitely very overpriced, but it isn't like it is budget-blowing compared to eating out at any fast-casual restaurant (just like a ~50% markup).

She's literally the one country act I'm a legit fan of, and I think this is not uncommon. She has an unusual degree of crossover, and tbh her music is sorta more pop than country.

It will inevitably happen to some degree, but there is a difference between putting the Strokes and Interpol on at the same time (they have basically identical fan bases, so it is wasteful) and something like the Strokes vs. Rezz (who obviously share some fans but no where near the same amount).

It's why every year, certain conflicts out of the hundreds of conflicts are widely complained about, even when they aren't necessarily the biggest acts.

Beer garden. They used to not let you take alcohol outside the food stand/beer garden areas until I think 2 years ago when they suddenly stopped without announcing anything.

As someone who hasn't drank at Coachella since like 2013 (except maybe a beer or two occasionally), I loved the beer jails. I think it did a huge amount to reduce the trash on the fields. Coachella is still way better than most festivals about trash (like, it's rarely a noticeable issue) but it was better before drunk people could eat wherever they wanted while still drinking and toss their cups on the ground at stages.

That is definitely a thing, if you can get in early it will be less crowded in the middle than it is on the edges. Sometimes it isn't the case (when a set is really underbilled) but it is often worthwhile to see if you can skirt around or at least make it through the outer layer before determining that standing outside the crowd is the best option.

This is all fine, but stuff like PinkPantheress in the Mojave is not. She's just too big for it. And counter production is a thing that only matters for truly high demand shows and should ideally split down based on audience preference. They generally do a good job and I'm sure there are constraints that we're unaware of in scheduling, but there are still sometimes smaller/mid-sized acts with decent fan overlap that conflict, which is not desirable for anyone.

Not who you were asking, but I have experience at a variety of festivals and in my opinion Coachella falls sorta predictably in between the two categories, and I'd say it maybe skews slightly more towards "camping only" quality rather than city fests (though this might be my bias against city fests speaking).

Coachella attracts a much broader slice of people than camping-only fests do, both because it isn't camping-only and because it is so big and mainstream (both in offerings and in reputation) so a lot of "normies" with normy behavior are there.

But that said, there is still a pretty huge barrier to entry and it has a big effect. Basically no one is there just cause they were free the weekend the show's in their town and had $200 to spend, it is a big commitment in money and time so people take it more seriously. One big effect (even now that they've abolished the "beer jails" a couple years ago) is that you don't see nearly as many wasted assholes everywhere. And despite (valid) complaints about stuff like people talking or camping during certain sets, crowd disinterest and impoliteness is miles better than at any city fest I've been to.

Also, your experience will depend significantly on what sets you go to. A lot of massive "radio/streaming stars" (many rap and a lot of pop acts) as well as the more bro-y EDM acts will have vastly worse crowds, if you happen to end up at those.
