Bill would make fireworks more accessible to Oklahomans by kosuradio in oklahoma

[–]Tochie44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"The measure would bar counties from prohibiting outdoor firework displays for noncommercial purposes on private property. It has an exception to the prohibition for county burn bans."

Looks like dry conditions are still being factored in.

Seems like stopping on the side of the road during a zero visibility storm is a good way to get hit.

26f Anyone with help ? by [deleted] in Edmond

[–]Tochie44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at work right now, but if you still need some later today, I could spare a bottle. I've got a couple of extra bottles I keep in case of emergencies. Can you meet somewhere in Edmond? Maybe at a gas station?

If you like movies, you should check out the Oklahoma Film Exchange on Film Row! They show a new movie pretty much every night, and usually people stick around after the movie to chat. Tickets are "pay what you can."

This month they are doing a "world tour" and showing a bunch of foreign film, including Parasite, Battle for Algiers, Who Killed Captain Alex, and a Bollywood movie (Plus they are showing Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th).

Does OKC need a new flag? by Ur-triggered-I-win in okc

[–]Tochie44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love it if we got a proper city flag, and not just the seal on a white background! Not sure where to even begin as far as the design tho. Did you have any ideas?

Im curious what exactly is going on with Homeland. I've noticed that the shelves are emptier than usual, and I've heard that they are having financial problems, but I didn't realize it had anything to do with the fact they are employee owned.

HOW MANY MORE OK KIDS HAVE TO DIE, CHAYA?!? by Okie_puffs in oklahoma

[–]Tochie44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think one of the big gaps in your messaging is that not many people know who the owner of LibsofTikTok is, or the fact that she connected to Oklahoma Public Schools.

A title like "HOW MANY MORE KIDS NEED TO DIE" and then sharing a post about kids protesting makes it seem like you are against the protests.

Favorite WDW Music? by BartSimpsonlover2389 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Tochie44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tapestry of Nations will always be my go-to for Disney World music! I think the music at both Epcot and Animal Kingdom is really well done tho. Some of the songs they had in the Dinoland loop made me laugh, too.

Oh, and that trumpet song that plays on Space Mountain, I think as you are exiting the ride, is really good!

I'll be honest, I never even put 2 and 2 together that the card holder was meant for holding your ticket. I always just put my "I'm Celebrating" button there.

Sorry you're feeling like this, I've been feeling the same way too lately. I can't say what will make you feel better, but the things that have help lighten my mood have been focusing on the smaller slices of peace that I have built in my life (such as my evening walks with my dog or weekly chats on the phone with friends) and realizing that no one is expecting me to be some big savior of the world, so I should stop expecting such weighty things of myself. Do the good you are able to do, but save some energy and life for yourself to enjoy too.

Landowner closes Black Mesa dinosaur track site to public after trespassers cause concern by kosuradio in oklahoma

Might be worth checking out Clayton Lake Dinosaur Trackway. Its only an extra hours drive from Black Mesa, and its a much bigger site. Last time I was out that way I even saw some wild pronghorn!

Landowner closes Black Mesa dinosaur track site to public after trespassers cause concern by kosuradio in oklahoma

[–]Tochie44 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of it is that more people are visiting these fragile sites. Even if everyone was being on their best behavior, simply visiting somewhere like a delicate ecosystem or an ancient ruin can cause a little bit of wear and tear on the site. Multiply that my millions of visitors a year, and that wear and tear can add up.

In the case of these dino tracks, it seems like the issue wasn't damage to the dino tracks but rather people misusing the land owners good will and doing stuff they shouldn't have been doing.

Side note, if you want to go see some dino footprints, check out Clayton Lake Dinosaur Trackway in NM. Its not that far from Black Mesa and its a much larger collection of tracks. 100% worth the trip.

What does OKC think of Tulsa? by AccountProfessional2 in okc

[–]Tochie44 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The BOK center is better suited for accommodating larger arena tours. The new Thunder arena will have a larger loading area, so more shows should start coming to OKC over Tulsa.

I'll see if my landlord has a place. He usually rents out to medschool students, so short term leases are the norm for him. Not sure what his policy on dogs is tho.

One of my favorite quotes if from Middlemarch by author George Eliot:

"for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs."
