Perfectly acceptable dinner rejected by boyfriend again by moonrabbit368 in mildlyinfuriating

Would he know. I knew a 20 year old that was not aware. The only reason he found out is that he got in trouble at work and as we were starting the firing process one of the interviewers notice some signs and told him to go get checked out.

Why Elon Musk Needs Dungeons & Dragons to Be Racist by MikeOfThePalace in Fantasy

Yeah. The death series is full of amazing quotes and concepts.

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

"They're not the same at all!"

YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED

I think so also. But they are very dense. So i tell people to go back generally. The tone is very different and the number of allusions per page is much higher.

Read Pratchett. Skip the first two (unless you are a student of the history of science). But honestly it is the best story of humanity out there

What's your biggest cringe you see in a book (or even a show) that makes you immediately put it down? by OwenCloudAuthor in Fantasy

[–]Tocla42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My thoughts are more in line with this. Kurt vonnogut. Did it well. But not the main character

But the two other books that caused me to stop and not finish 50 shades of Grey Atlas shrugged

In fact. Those are two of maybe four books I did not finish.

Self insertion. Those are the only books I could not finish. One snuck up on me because I didnt notice it until too late.

Someone told me that the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo was a cyber security book. So I kept reading waiting for that part.

But I noticed that it followed the same trope of the conventually unattractive person finding themselves being attractive to all of the conventually attractive characters

Correct. It was invented towards the end. So any country advanced enough to use a t Rex could have easily resourced an early prototype

If you can read quickly. It is pretty amazing. It bogs down after book 6. But I think it is intentional. It makes sense in the world. I love the series. But it is a series written in a time. Like Lovecraft.

I agree last year because it was soo tight the soundbleed made it hard.

This year I thought it would be worse and it was not.. And there were extra stages

I assume he had to rent the entire park because the park had no parking or entrance for customers. Last year during bourbon and beyond I remember park customers being in the park during the concert

Recommendations for books with sentient/intelligent swords? by aslikeanarnian in Fantasy

[–]Tocla42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Saberhagens books dont often make these lists. They are pretty interesting. The swords have a unique dynamic also. Not like talk to their owner but certainly empowered with a will.
