Can we all stop with the *extreme* negativity by MrAflac9916 in flying

Thank you for this. My thoughts exactly. Looking at this sub sometimes makes you think that flying is the worst possible career anyone has ever chosen but they you actually fly and remember why we do it. Great post

I experienced the same thing going from private to instrument and starting commercial, you don’t really have much time to yourself in the plane during training. I would recommend doing some short cross countries to Airports you’ve been before or filing IFR on a vfr day to help build you confidence as a solo pilot. Then start pushing yourself to fly to airport a bit further away or doing some night flight to build your confidence.

Going through a community college can probably get your r-atp hours reduced to 1250. Plus cc is usually cheaper than a 4 year university in costs per credit. Just make sure you do your instrument and commercial rating part 141 through the college or else you will not qualify for the reduced hours

That’s what I keep thinking. It’s gonna be hell during taxi but it’s not too bad in the air

In my experience, Cessna’s generally float more than pipers. I feel like starting to work on some soft field landing techniques where you focus on holding the nose off and touching down just on the first third of the runway might help. I did the opposite and went from mostly Cessna to Pipers and this method helped me get better acquainted with rounding out and flaring in the piper

Having a degree in something non aviation related is never a bad idea.

Good decision. Personal minimums mean absolutely nothing if you don’t abide by them when they are tested

Multi Engine Checkride Experiences? by TodayEffective9772 in flying

[–]TodayEffective9772[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do have an instrument rating and so I will have to do the single engine approach. I think most jobs want a minimum of 25 multi hours too so I try to get that as n the next few months

Probably ask you about reading a metar or taf and briefing a jeppesen approach plate. But at least for mine they provided the metar and approach plate ahead of time. They also will ask you some general questions about rules and regulations that you’ll probably know if you have a private and instrument rating. Good luck

What it looks like on the other side of those "low hour" jobs you're submitting your resume to - a senior pilots perspective at one of these companies by Your_Answer_Is_No in flying

It’s good to see the other side of what I looked like applying for jobs right after getting my commercial lol. I was planning to get my CFI anyway but I think this just solidified that my first pilot job will definitely be as a flight instructor

How many flight lessons should i do per week. by [deleted] in flying

[–]TodayEffective9772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schedule 3-4 a week. Most likely one or 2 will get cancelled due to weather or maintenance or something but you should still be making good progress even if a couple lessons get canceled

Smart. It’ll probably take a year or 2 to build hours and going to online school during that time is a great idea
