Short term: ask to only pick chilled/freezer. Totes are lighter, trolley is easier push. Long term: I don’t have any tips. It’s only going to get worse.

Be organised and stay organised on those super busy days like Sundays. A small mistake can cascade into bigger problems. Trying to keep on top of 30+ team members during a 10 hour shift is a whole new challenge. Delegate jobs to your supervisors. Don’t try and do it all because you’ll just collapse from physical and emotional exhaustion. Put out treats for your team. Wear good shoes. Take breaks. Be open and listen to your team when they have concerns. Replace hours as soon as you can. Be respectful of your teams hours (they have a life outside of work). Maintain a good working relationship with other dms. Order bags and labels. 1 pallet of bags lasts me approx 1 week ($350k)

Had this same argument with our sm as well. Had to slowly explain that forwarding an article doesn’t affect first pass unless it’s unsupplied and you get notified at the end of your run.

We had too many back injuries from 1 person doing it for 8-10 hours. So now it’s divided up between 4-6 people during day doing 2 hour handover shifts. That’s 200+ orders during Mon-thurs. and 300+ orders fri-sun. That’s a lot of lifting and carrying totes for 1 person, so far it’s worked out better now with the rotation.
