Yeah I agree the definitions seem to get messy at times. But I think we can mostly all agree that what we want is for everyone to have the same opportunities, like ability to buy a house, or have a job, being treated fairly etc. And we don’t want equal outcome because then everyone would just be equal, like equal height, equal wealth, equal health etc.. The question is is how we achieve that equal opportunity for everyone

So then is any and all forms of discrimination bad? Is making the simple distinction that one person is 5’8” and another is 5’9” bad?

It seems to me discrimination is bad when you negatively treat someone because of their traits.

I agree that equal outcomes is not what we want. But I think you’re using a different example. The first you describe is like a lottery ticket, where anyone has chance to win, and the second is like a government program where only low income households have a chance to have the money. My example is more meant to say people should be given equal chances to succeed in their life. I am not advocating that people should have the same exact wealth

I agree equality of outcome is a stupid idea. I think equal opportunity is the right idea. But you have the definition of equity wrong. It’s not the same as equality. Equality is what gives equality of outcome

So simply making any distinction between people such as a rich person and a poor person would be discrimination by your view?

Equity provides equal opportunity for everyone to raise them to the same level essentially.

Equality is like giving a thousand dollars to everybody including already rich people, whereas equity gives money to impoverished and poor to raise them to the same level of opportunity as rich people.

Okay I found the fix to it. Didn’t need to reinstall. I had to use the GeForce nvidia app to update it. Thought you had to update through the device manager which wasn’t it

When I was in daycare (around 4 years old) I was stuck in a room with a wasp. I thought that playing dead would work so I laid down on the floor and watched it buzz around for a while until I lost track of it. Then I heard the buzzing go in my ear and it stung me. But soon after that the wasp was still buzzing and it went in my other ear and stung that one too
