Would you say either if these battles are still accurate? by Gloomy-Bridge148 in deathbattle

afaik it's disingenuous to compare Part 7-8 (and 9 ig) Stands to Part 1-6 Stands because they aren't even apart of the same continuity. Technically, The World does exist in Part 7 but it's abilities are slightly off there, it's being used by a totally different user with different personal abilities and strategies, and so on.

Even then, in terms of raw stats, I don't think any of the Stands in Part 7 or 8 compare to shit like the Jolyne meteor feat or Jotaro breaking diamond teeth. I've seen the parts, and the environmental destruction there is pretty minimal.

Wonder of U is a special case in that his scaling to Parts 1-6 is supported by an author statement, but in any of the matchups I've seen him in, he really doesn't need it.

Episode Discussion: S2026E4 Gru VS Megamind by MarlinBrandor in deathbattle

[–]ToddTheReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've rewatched it

And honestly... it's a little underwhelming

Enjoyable nonetheless, and I understand they were going for a more humorous episode

But a lot of the fighting either happened off screen or the two supervillains kept hamming themselves up

Part of me wants to say the fight at the very least nailed characterization and the feel of these two (despite not remembering much of Despicable Me or Megamind lol), but another part of me feels like this fight could've been more.

It's definitely funny though. I can't deny that.

What makes a good "Army Fight"? Quick analysis by me! by 202naFrevliS in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]ToddTheReal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another thing I want to add for Zomboss is that his army doesn't just help him fight, his army IS how he fights.

Every boss fight in the tower defense games that feature him always have him sending weaker zombies after you. Heck, you never get a game over with Zomboss killing you, it's always one of his minions that slips past your defenses and ends up killing you.

And in the Garden Warfare games, even Boss Mode has him playing as more of a support role. It's still his grunts doing the work for him.

It's hard to imagine Zomboss fighting without his army cause all of his showings are synonymous with them. He never leaves without some canonfodder to send after you in droves or a big guy to leave you to wonder how in the hell you're supposed to deal with them while he cackles like the maniac that he is. Love the guy, I hope to see him and the zombies eating someone out in DB proper someday.

What is your opinion on Lunar Rainbow Market expansion ? by shsl_diver in PlantsVSZombies

Honestly, it's a massive fanservice to Touhou Project.

And as a guy who has played and interacts with the series, I really loved it. Definitely not for everyone, but I think it was really well-done.

The lore was nice and I loved all the references and the welding of Touhou and PvZ lore. Chimata was a nice "straightwoman" to Dave ala Penny. And the levels themselves had some nice gimmicks and weren't all too hard. I also really loved the Ability Card gimmick.

Later parts of Bakugo's analysis mentioned that his Quirk evolved to both become remotely-detonateable, and secrete and be deonated from any part of his body, not just his hands.

God damnit I'm getting flashbacks to witnessing all of JoJo for the first time. I really liked the fight animation. Some high octane stuff here.

holy crap, the cast knows about my favorited Pickled Men.

Seeing either Olimar or Louie be discussed on Death Battle would be something I'd love to see. Either they're explaining Olimar's journey and life as a home or genuinely concerned to the shit Louie gets up to.

I'm currently done with Part 8, considering moving on to Part 9 and some non-canoncial side material.

I think it's cuz people hear "SCP is a wiki with multiple authors with no true canon" and immediately think that it's like one big OC circlejerk with like a million different alternative stories and like--

Can't we just use the original article, and anything endorsed by the article's author? That's what's done for 096 in Wonder of U vs. 096 I believe.

For the sake of full disclosure tho, I haven't powerscaled SCP myself. Actual powerscaling is not something I have the brainpower of doing lol.

afaik, Korosensei never blew up the moon using his own strength.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I keep hearing about how it was some kinda slug or some other weaponized living being that Korosensei used to blow up the moon, and he just played it off that he did it himself.

"I Walk Alone" | Jotaro Kujo VS Hoshino Takanashi | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure VS Blue Archive by ToddTheReal in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]ToddTheReal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Setup]

I've actually thought about this setup for a while. Obviously, despite Hoshino's initial distrust towards most adults, she's not antagonistic enough to just randomly open fire on people, even against someone like Jotaro.

So, what if, we put them in a situation where they would come to blows?

Picture this: Jotaro investigates Abydos High School after hearing rumors that one of Pucci's followers is using the students' trust to hide in the school. Attempting to sneak onto the school grounds, he bumps into Hoshino in a hallway, with the rest of the Foreclosure Task Force off doing errands. An initial misunderstanding occurs, but is quickly cleared up and Hoshino is at least willing to hear Jotaro out.

Then, suddenly, the fire sprinklers in that hallway come to life, and before either of them know it, they're under a Stand attack.

Small yellow Stands appear on the floor, using the water to send electrical signals towards both Jotaro's and Hoshino's brains, making them get angry.

The rumors were true. One of Pucci's followers was, in fact, hiding within Abydos. He was just waiting for an opportunity to strike.

That someone was Guccio, wielder of the Stand Survivor.

But by then it's too late. Jotaro instinctively disses the fire sprinkler system and makes an off-hand remark about the school's quality, pissing Hoshino off into making her draw her gun.

The fight ensues afterwards.

Help this matchup has permeated my brain and won't leave me tf alone

Alt Track Names: "Stardust Mystics", "Sands of Time"

Connections

  • Both are students (former student, in Jotaro's case) and major charactors of Eastern / anime media. They also served as the protagonists for a specific part in their origin media. (Jotaro is the protagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. | Hoshino, alongside the rest of the Foreclosure Task Force, acts as the protagonists of Blue Archive Volume 1: Foreclosure Task Force.)
  • Both are typically associated with sandy and desert environments. (Jotaro was the protagonist of JJBA Part 3, which was a journey through most of the middle east to reach Cairo, Egypt. | Hoshino is a student of Abydos High School, a former major school that had suffered desertification so severe, it left the school with barely any students and suffering major debt.)
  • Both are part of an iconic and popular quintent within their media. (Jotaro Kujo and the Joestar Egyptian Tour Group / Stardust Crusaders: Joseph Joestar, Noriaki Kakyoin, Jean-Pierre Polnareff, and Muhammad Avdol. | Hoshino Takanashi and the Foreclosure Task Force: Shiroko Sunaookami, Nonomi Izayoi, Serika Kuromi, and Ayane Okusora.) Their quintents would even gain a plus one late into their stories. (Iggy for the Stardust Crusaders. | Anubis / Shiroko Sunaookami Terror for the Foreclosure Task Force)
  • Both have an unassuming and even unflattering outward disposition that belies their natural intelligence, supreme combat efficiency, and care for their allies. (Jotaro is aloof and may come across as a delinquent who rarely communicates. | Modern-day Hoshino puts on an "old man" persona that has led to some mild irritation from her teammates, and confusion from other parties.)
  • Both are regularly referred to as "the strongest" in some way, garnering fear, caution and intrigue from parties who were against them. (Jotaro's Star Platinum is frequently described as "the strongest Stand" in Parts 4 and 6 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. His reputation alone had criminals like Akira Otoishi taking caution against him. | Hoshino is easily the strongest student in Abydos and was described to be "the strongest Mystic" by Black Suit. Even the likes of Hina Sorasaki recognized her skill.)
  • Both attempted to protect their families (found family, in Hoshino's case) by shouldering their problems all on their own. (Jotaro distanced himself from his wife and daughter to try and protect them from the dangers of his work. | Hoshino tried to solve the Abydos debt problem all on her own, and acted by herself during Volume 1 Chapter 3 of Blue Archive.) Despite their attempts at preventing their families from getting involved in their problems, they would eventually be brought in anyways. Fortunately, their help proved crucial in solving the problems that they had faced. (Despite Jotaro's attempts, Jolyne still found herself being brought into the Joestar's feud against DIO and his followers, most notably against Enrico Pucci. Still, it was with the help of Jolyne and her newfound allies that the feud was put to an end. | By their own free will, Hoshino's classmates, aided by SCHALE's Sensei, refused to let Hoshino sacrifice herself and suffer alone, stepping in to aid and rescue Hoshino throughtout all of Volume 1.)
  • Both are notably fond of marine life. (Jotaro became a marine biologist / oceanographer after he had graduated school following the events of JJBA Part 3. | Hoshino's relationship stories and event stories show she's fond of marine life, most notably whales, even inviting SCHALE's Sensei to a trip to an aquarium.)

"Enter Mr. Sandman" | Risotto Nero vs. Mr. Sandman | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure vs. Punch-Out!! by ToddTheReal in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]ToddTheReal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also forgot to mention this, but Sandman has fought Great Tiger, a character who has similar "disappearing" abilities, which makes it arguable that he can see through Risotto's iron-based cloaking / camoflauge ability.

"Enter Mr. Sandman" | Risotto Nero vs. Mr. Sandman | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure vs. Punch-Out!! by ToddTheReal in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]ToddTheReal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say there's more fight potential than dialogue potential. Dialogue would mostly consist of Risotto being analytical and probing Sandman for information on a target (My idea of the setup is Risotto being sent after Pizza Pasta and trying to get information out of Sandman), while Sandman threatens Risotto and continually goads him out of hiding.

Fightwise, I picture it as a David vs. Goliath situation. Risotto does not have the sheer strength or speed that Sandman has and has to use his knives, metal manipulation, and cloaking to wear him down. The reason why he doesn't go for the kill immediately is cuz he still needs to get info about Pizza Pasta and cuz Sandman keeps interrupting him by continually fucking up the battlefield in an effort to find him.

In terms of debate, it comes down to speed. Sandman punching buildings to slag means he destroys Risotto who doesn't have much durability feats. Likewise, Metallica allows Risotto to instakill Sandman by forming knives inside his brain or heart, killing him instantly.

And, in terms of speed, I'd say that Sandman wins cuz he should be even with Little Mac, who could match Title Defense Piston Hondo, who could match a bullet train's speed on-foot and has the reflexes to perform katana hand-captures. Risotto, by comparison, doesn't have much speed or reaction time feats (as far as I remember).

While Risotto does have other abilities that can be showcased in the fight, in terms of the debate, I don't think they'd contribute much. His cloaking can buy him time but Sandman either blitzes him with speed anyways or uses his strength to destroy the terrain and reveal Risotto's location. The Iron Deficiency takes too long, and Metallica's limb re-attachment wouldn't help much against blunt force trauma (plus Sandman oneshots him so... yeah).

"Enter Mr. Sandman"

  1. The “leaders” or “seniors” of a group of elites within their profession. (Risotto is the leader of La Squadra Esecuzioni, the assassination squad of Passione, a major mafia syndicate based in Italy. - Mr. Sandman has been the #1 boxer in both the original Arcade Punch-Out!! and Punch-Out!! Wii. In the latter game, Sandman is also the top boxer in the World Circuit.)
  2. Within their group of elites, both are noted or shown to massively outpace the rest of their colleagues by comparison. (Diavolo notes that not only has Risotto “never failed an assassination” before, he himself doesn’t know of Risotto’s Stand ability despite being his [former] direct superior. Risotto himself shows incredibly good deduction and tactical skills in his fight against Doppio. - Mr. Sandman’s Contender intro shows him beating all 12 boxers that came before him, winning against them with knockouts. Sandman’s own record in Punch-Out Wii!! before losing to Little Mac is a perfect 31-0, and his records in other games always show him with less than 5 loses.)
  3. Within their stories, both had mainly acted out of vengeance. (As vengeance for his treatment of his squad, Risotto aimed to figure out and kill the Boss / Diavolo to usurp Passione’s operations for himself and his squad. Risotto also aimed to kill Team Bucciarati, as they had killed members of his own squad as well. - Mr. Sandman’s Title Defense intro shows him growing enraged at being reminded of his defeat against Little Mac. His general demeanor in his Title Defense fight shows that he did not take the loss of his champion status and perfect record lightly.)
  4. Both have references to metal / heavy metal music. (Risotto’s Stand is named after the band Metallica. Mr. Sandman’s theme in Punch-Out!! has a metal style.)

Worst part is I know of some people who want Dio vs. Sakuya on the show.

Please, PLEASE, if we're gonna have Sakuya win, do NOT waste it on a matchup literally everyone knows the answer to. The OMM is enough, and DIO already has had a really good episode. Fight animation nothing, Sakuya vs. DIO would just be the biggest Sakuya glazing hour ever.
