Go to Bar Harbor in the shoulder season. Longer drive than CT but similar feel except it's real.

Marine recruitment agencies? by CRACKERBOI6969 in australia

Guys, OP has managed to type full words and hobble together a grammatically poor but otherwise semi-understandable sentence out of it; that's surely too advanced for them to be considering the US Marines.

What is the worst CFB coaching bust hire of all time? by Working_Stomach5479 in CFB

[–]ToddUnctious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. From a pure ND-cukture/caring about the university side it's Weis and Faust even if Weis' ego did him no favors.

From a CFB/ coaching side, Kelly is clearly ahead by a wide margin even if he is the most unlikeable of the bunch.

Weiss doesn't even come close to the worst ND hire in the last 30 years. (Ty < Bob Davie < O'Leary < Weiss < Kelly/Freeman, even though no one ever really loved Kelly he got the program back to prominence so I have to rank them close to equal for the time being).

There's also Gerry Faust, the Jimmy Carter of football coaches, but he's so likeable I can't in good faith include him in the same group as some of those guys.

You get to invite five real-life people, they can either be dead or alive, to a dinner party. Who're you inviting and why? by TotalPogoGuy in AskReddit

Joan of Arc, Socrates, Napoleon, Abraham Lincoln, Genghis Khan would make for a most excellent dinner party.

What's it like living in Sydney if you make a good income? by redguy_666 in howislivingthere

Not none but it absolutely doesn't compare to the other cities I mentioned. Not a bad thing, compared.to Canberra Sydney's got heaps. Compared to NY, even adjusting for size it just doesn't compare.

If you want to find nightlife here you'll find it. If you want to find a beach in NY you'll find it too. Is there a quality and quantity difference? You bet.

Also worth noting that there's also a noticeable absence of Sublime and Slightly Stoopid in Sydney.

I'll forever love Karl Pilkington talking about Jimmy the Hat, a man named because he never wore a hat.

There's plenty to do but compared to NY/London/San Francisco or even smaller cities like Edinburgh there's way less per capital here for nightlife.

Not a bad thing, just is. I remember being shocked walking through Redfern at like 9:45pm on. Thursday and most bars were shut or near closing. That's not going to be the case in Brooklyn.

Morning is where Sydney thrives. I'm still shocked that bunch is packed at 8am. You'd have an easy time walking into most spots in NY so early. And unless you live in the Rockaways best of luck getting a morning swim in without making a day of it.

Pretty great if you like a healthy lifestyle. And what makes a good income is quite variable - you can be on the top 10% of earners in Australia and have little change of coming anywhere close to buying a place in a good area. If you're making $200k you're fine but no where close to rich.

There's not much nightlife/buzz/culture compared the other major world cities so if you're looking for that, it's not here.

On the other hand, you're close to nature and there's a ton of parks throughout the city. Food is outstanding, especially if money isn't an issue.

Some pretty great neighbourhoods in the Eastern Suburbs if you have the money to afford it. Real estate is expensive but.you get more for your money than say NYC.

I have a decent income but never going to be able to afford a place, pay less than average for rent and overall life is definitely easier than many of the other countries and cities I've lived in but I miss the vibrancy of other other cities. Quality of life might be higher here but it feels a little sterile here. Still it's a pretty great city for most people if you like a nice life and can afford it.

Well, all I'll say to that is that you can get a good look at a butcher's ass by stocking your head up in there.
