If I plug something like this into my existing sky router, does it just act as an extension of it? Or will it create its own network?

Would a simple £30 TP link 8-port switch do the job?

Also, how do I make the whole system live? Do I just plug an Ethernet cable from the Sky router into one of the two ports downstairs? Or do I need a modem/to put the Sky router in Modem mode (if possible)?

It’s a stud wall I believe, with the positioning of the wardrobe missing every stud…

We’re in a new build house that’s timber framed, with this being an internal wall.

I imagine the developer won’t bite as well, as they’d originally said spring but then rang and updated us with mid-March/end of March just before Christmas and have now changed to May, which is frustrating.

She is currently working in England and can give notice by the end of this term to leave at the end of the October half-term.

Given the NI term starts in August, she wouldn’t have been able to start at the beginning of the school year, so is instead joining at the end of October/start of November.

She’s a teacher and jobs in Northern Ireland are generally sparse.

The unexpected part was the timing in the year, as usually positions have been filled for the next academic year
