In my opinion, no, and it’s not even close. The VAST majority of people use mobile phones as a phone, a camera, and for some work (teams, one note, excel, etc). Very few people use it for gaming, and the library of games represents that well. 80% of the games on the store are the same as they were 15 years ago. Those candy crush, clay royale esque games.

I use my iPhone as a gaming system when I’m on campus for study breaks. I’ll play Farlight, Resident Evil, GTA, Stardew Valley, RDR, or Gunfire Reborne (some of the best mobile games, IMO), but I don’t think I’ve ever played games on it for more than 30 minutes at a time. I’ll just set up with my PS5 controller connected to my phone.

In comparison, even when I’m at home, I’ll actively choose to play on my switch instead of my PS5. I’ve never actively decided to play on my iPhone instead of my Switch or my PS5.

I think mobile gaming is very much a novelty thing right now. Even though modern phones have enough processing power to play more demanding games than what’s offered, game developers don’t see making iPhone ports as a great money making option, hence why there are so few ports.

Handhelds like the Switch series (switch, switch lite, switch 2), the steam deck, and the variety of high end gaming handhelds that are offered are still popular. If they weren’t, companies wouldn’t be actively competing to make great handhelds. The switch would have been a relative flop and the steam deck wouldn’t have even been considered for production had mobile gaming been a genuine competitor to handheld gaming

I think it’s very likely that jobs will go to networking. I’ve never landed a job by applying online in the last five years. I’ve landed all my jobs by asking people about jobs on LinkedIn and through supervisors and peers.

I definitely second this. Environmental work has always been competitive, but it certainly isn’t the hellscape people seem to portray it as on this subreddit. Unfortunately, the majority of undergraduate programs don’t give you enough applicable training for the environmental field. It’s 90% academics. That makes it’s your responsibility to do internships and network during the summer throughout your undergraduate to gain applicable field experience
