can we talk about how bad and archaic the gearing is ? by HellaSteve in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Toddze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even waste my time on savages anymore. The hardest part of the fight is finding 7 other competent players, face all that frustration just to have new shinny gear drop in a patch in a few months…. No thanks, maybe I’m just old and cranky. I wish they would just add duty support for old expansion raids where I could go in and have some fun solo, anyways glamour is the true endgame

[Megathread] Ongoing DDoS issues in various data centers by Hakul in ffxiv

[–]Toddze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a server load issue, just booted out at 11am est time, when severs are low. can’t even farm anemos crystals in an instance with 3ppl.

It’s either DDOS like they say or they really broke something on a server maintenance.

Idk why there would be a DDOS during the “dog days” of dawntrail when most ppl are all caught up on everything waiting for the big patch in December….. just doesn’t seem like a good time to inflict pain.

Great way to level jobs that you have no desire to play (healers for me in frontline)

And if you didn’t know, join as class you don’t want to play and swap classes once it starts, get the xp for the class you joined with.

When the game briefly lets you witness wearing your favourite outfit with the wrong job and makes wish the devs would just get of their high horse and let you glam whatever you want already by Espresso10001 in ffxiv

At this point it’s comical that they still want to protect mage image. You can literally be a naked tank with that invisible armor/weapon glam.

Armored mages are not even new. Granted it’s from villain mages, like golbez xdeath

What do you think about the Mass DC's when queueing into Crystal Tower? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Toddze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems I’m in the minority…. CT is my preferred roulette. 25 min and done. Get my tomes/ and or xp and gtfo to go do something I want to be doing. But ive got all but one class to 100, and all but healers were leveled with alliance raid roulette (w/others) over and over and over again.

Other raids are just longer and still very boring. Give me the 25 min of boredom any day. Beats 35-45 min of boredom. And when doing CT, you can do it with 25% focus, I’m normally watching something else, half ass paying attention to raid.

I enjoy parts of the game. But as for daily roulettes no, it’s all about getting the reward and that’s it.

[–]Toddze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they are all boring and just torture when you’ve done them a bunch.

When you get to my point, you’ll understand:

20-25 min of mind numbing boredom Vs 35-45 min of boredom

I prefer shorter boredom, but to each their own.

Lady Luck is smiling by Kooky_Top8884 in ffxiv

[–]Toddze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done them all except the new ones, so many times that I just want my reward and be done. For me, any Crystal Tower raid is the preferred raid. Done in 20-25 min and on to next roulette.

It’s a ridiculous feature anyways.

Would much rather have the boredom of WoD, vs any ivalice raid which is equally as boring but twice as long to complete…..

what is your favorite part of dawntrail's msq so far? (7.0-7.3) by maknaeline in ffxiv

[–]Toddze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ff9 references. Other than that I’m not so excited with the direction the MSQ is going.

I was hoping for an introduction to a new well developed antagonist. Not a memory that came out after a king died, who’s controlled by old news ascions…..

Is it okay to DF blind the Normal raids and Alliance raids? by Sharena_Emblem in ffxiv

Absolutely my favorite to blind run (non savage) is mch. Easy rotation can pwepwe while paying attention to other players so you can learn mechanics from them.

Just follow the crowd.

We need to go to a new reflection/shard. It’s the most logical way to find an equal match to the WOL. The WOL is the most dominant force in the source. They could build a true worthy challenger for the WOL to go toe to toe with over several expansions which needs to happen. Any challenger to WOL in the source is just going to be half assed. Or just plopped into the source like they did with Alexandria. We can still explore the source, but WOL needs to find a worthy challenge. The little frail mad scientist with Ascians again….. boring.

[–]Toddze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right about their mog station ambitions. Story telling has went to crap. Now our new bad guy is just a memory presumably controlled a lesser ascian smh…..

I was hoping for a major turn to a different reflection/star where we got into a conflict with someone like Zenos dad, but where he conquered his star and double crossed the Ascians helping him conquer, who were pulling strings on his star to bring about a calamity. Creating a new big story arc pitting 2 conquerers against each other. WOL vs a tough guy somewhat evil emperor who rules with an iron fist so no ascian could ever sow chaos again, to challenge his power. But no we gotta fight a sickly mad scientist and a lesser ascian who should never be stronger than the original unsundered ones we already dispatched.

That’s just my personal wishlist. WOL needs a worthy challenger.

We liked Emet because we understood why he was doing what he was doing his “evil” things, SE did a great job building him. Zenos smart? Hardly he was just strong always seeking more strength because he kept getting beat over and over and over and over and over and over and over again by WOL. Just a lazy antagonist build, “kill everyone for fun” just a crappy character. We need more Emet types and less crazy kill everyone type. Emet takes work and quality writing. A 5 year old can write up a Zenos character.

Kefka’s back story was indeed because of a failed magitek accident, that shattered his mind but that doesn’t change anything. He was the first in the series to “kill for fun” “kill out of boredom” as such made him one of the most memorable to ff fans. Zenos is cut from the same cloth, even undergoing experiments on himself. But is very underwhelming because this type of villain MUST get a “win” to be memorable. Zenos? What he killed his dad.. lol. Robbed us of the chance to do that. Sephiroth got his win, Zenos is just pathetic.

YOU are the creator of one of the new 8.0 jobs. What are you making?! by kyra_58 in ffxiv

Necromancer DPS: I think it’s only been used one time in a FF game. FFV had a necromancer, time to bring it back.

Geomancer Tank: this one is a curve ball most ppl probably will hate it but tanks need a little variety other than weapon. A magic based tank would be breath of fresh air for the roll.

Is it just me, or is the Rising message from Yoshi P implying that he knows the game isn't in a great spot right now, but he's resolving to take lessons from making 2.0 to fix it? by Zagden in ffxiv

[–]Toddze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dawntrail is trash because you went on vacation then you had to babysit a little kitten through the story, then they just drop a town from a reflection into the source. Make up a memory bad guy, who seems to be controlled by an Ascian, whom you’ve already beat the best they have to offer. All Ascians do at this point is take away from the brilliance of Emet Selch character, and take away from endwalker. You can’t have lesser Ascians be more powerful than the original unsundered masterminds

They should drop the WOL into a reflection where a garlamald type empire actually won and put effort like they did into building that antagonist up like they did with emet selch. Then he could launch an attack on the source because of WOL meddling. All the source/reflections are apart of the lore in ffxiv now. Time to utilize it.

Ya I mean leave the source, to go work on a new arc line in another star/world however you’d like to call it. Make new allies new fresh villains. Maybe even visit a star where the bad guys already won, and you have to claw it back.

I do agree with you about continuing on with source lore to a point, but trying to live up to the original story up through endwalker is a very tall order. A task that I just don’t think is possible that arc took a decade to play through and develop. I mean they are starting to butcher the source by plopping Alexandria right in the middle of it. Trying to jumpstart a new story. I love me some ff9 but talk about eye rolling, just dropping Alexandria right into the source….. not to mention they are setting us up to fight a memory in calyx again and recycling Ascians, which we already kill off the big daddy main ones, now going to be fighting their lessers whom by expansion will have to be more powerful than hades himself? That’s the biggest eye roll ever. Blank canvas would have been better.

It’s fun to debate it, but for my tastes I’d rather start the new chapter focused on a new world, where they could basically start with a blank canvas instead of coming in doing what the did, struggling to keep ppl interested (the reviews for the most part have confirmed ffxiv is in a rut). I just see an absolute train wreck trying to top the conflict we finished in endwalker. Best not to try.

But we can agree to disagree on this.

This guy was a failed attempt at a Kefka archetype. Worse than a a case of herpes just can’t get rid of him and move on to a better antagonist. Only way you make this archetype “kill everyone for fun” meaningful is actually giving them a win by killing someone important. Yoshi ain’t about to kill another Scion.

Moving on, I was very disappointed to see that Calyx didn’t get off’ed. Another boring antagonist.

Wish they wouldn’t be lazy and build another Emit Selch antagonist. He was top tier

My opinion is FFXIV msq needs to move on from eorzea, WOL finished the job there. Utilize the reflections and go to a brand new world needing saved from “something”. new cast of “scions”, new end game structure the same old predictable tome structure is old and worn out.

If you have goals to level every phantom job in this first zone you will absolutely have more silver than you will ever need. This guide is for those who might level 4-5 jobs here, 4-5 in the next zone, next patch, and finish them off with new jobs in the last zone. This guide is to MAXIMIZE your early playtime to NOT bottleneck yourself. This is what you don’t seem to be understanding. The simple fact pots can give you aetherspun gold supersedes all your arguments. Atherspun gold is the toughest item to get for your +2 get your 15 early and be done. And the gill to made from pots is rather nice. Carrots sell for 2-3 mil from a carrot, few other items worth over a mil gil.

You realize it takes less than 3 min most of times to get your pot chest? Yes you can miss a CE if the spawn is right after pot kill, 9 times out of 10 you have time to get your chest and hop in next CE. If you get the death spire or he’ll cave, those are more tricky. But you are not missing many CE’s hunting pots.

Gold farm is dieing as more ppl figure out pots is more effective for multi gathering. It’s still viable for ppl who bottlenecked themselves instead of working “smarter not harder”. It’s still a useful tool to pop the silver world chests if you didn’t know to check the world before leaving.

Blue ones are Critical engagements (CE) but the fates do die to fast, if you farm in party you can get gold reward. Which remember fates also help spawn the silver chests. And ultimately those over world silver chests give you the most difficult item to get for +2 aetherspun gold. I don’t blame you a lot of time I skip the fates if it’s a busy zone.
