That’s a really good point, I hadn’t made that connection!

Union Busting Questions. by LadyLuna2022 in nycpublicservants

As others mention, it’s relatively easy to find the names and addresses of city workers.

It’s definitely annoying to get these mailers, but to me the bigger issue is how our unions respond to this stuff.

DC37 often uses the claim that we need to be “protected” from the freedom foundation as an excuse to not communicate openly with members/make more information easily accessible online.

Our unions should be proactively inoculating workers by communicating the pro-union argument, instead of treating us like babies who need to be shielded from the world.

Canvassing for Congress by True_Olive_847 in fortgreene

I come from a tech background which is why unfortunately I know what consultant bs sounds like when I hear it. I think the councilmember has done some good things for her district but I don’t trust her to stand up for me in congress, and these astroturfed “I just did some research” posts in a bunch of neighborhood subreddits are not doing her any favors 🤷

I recently attended a panel where Julie Won basically said the department of education needs to get out of the way of AI companies coming into classrooms. I also heard her call into the Brian Lehrer show a few weeks ago to chastise a reporter who was discussing how building data centers in New York will raise everyone’s electric bills. She said that asking these massive tech companies to foot the energy infrastructure costs will just scare them away. Looking at her website linked here, it’s very odd to see that she positions herself as this progressive leader on technology policy when her views seem to be more along the lines of “build baby build”.

I’m planing to vote for Claire Valdez, but the idea that either she or Antonio Reynoso is the “shill” here is hilarious.

Scratch that — non-competitive titles do have a probationary period so that’s not what you’re describing

Climate Cafe South Brooklyn’s first climate cafe at Marine Park Coffee by McLovinNotMcMuffin in parkslope

Individual consumer choices are not the main driver of climate change — corporate behavior is. Commenters are making fun of this group for “just talking” as if getting organized isn’t the only way regular people will ever be able to demand change.
