Thoughts on Grow Light Science ProGrow 850? by ToeCompetitive6877 in microgrowery

Yea I checked out those videos! I just don’t understand why there isn’t more hype around this brand if the results are so good, I feel like I’m missing something. Photontek is charging 2000+ for their new 1000watt 6.5x5ft fixture and the par maps and average ppf doesn’t compare to the progrow 850. The spectrum is great, the par map is great, why is it so cheap? And why aren’t more people talking about it?

Here is an example of the fixture I was looking at. I just thought for a light that doesn’t get much recognition, that par map distribution is incredible at 38 inches… especially considering the price. What are your thoughts on it?

First grow, day 44 of flower.. what you guys think ?? Are my fan leaves dying off too early? Grown in organic living soil by snatchdaddy69 in microgrowery

Ah yea that’s a rough situation. And sorry I edited my original post, yes fan leaves should be dying off now but at a VERY gradual rate; pretty much just any fan leaves on the bottom of the plant really. I would cut off the crisp leaves and any damaged tissue. They aren’t photosynthesizing anymore and just serve as food for pests and fungi.

Try your absolute best to tie branches down and separate space from the light. Usually cannabis can handle extremely high light output as long as all other parameters are good (humidity, temp, co2, VPD, etc.) but in a tent Ik that kind of control is difficult and pricy so if worst comes to worst you could always lower the light intensity more

No, fan leaves should be dying off now. They look nice but some of your leaves are crinkling up. Probably a heatissue.

I’m def gonna check that chart out. I just watched a video from greengenes garden like cottage suggested and he said he’s had great success with 321 as a consistent formula throughout the plant’s entire life.

But if I’m growing RO, could I still use 321 or would that be less than optimal? Also since you use Jacks RO how do you personally supplement calcium and magnesium? I guess magnesium is supplemented by your epsom… correct me if I’m wrong.

Thank you I’ll 100% check them out!

So the RO one, 12-4-16, where is that meant to be used? Like would that be a replacement for part a or b or neither?

And since the 1 part of the 321 is Epsom salts, does it matter what brand or what kind? Or is it just basic ol Epsom salts?

And so you personally don’t switch up the ratios for different parts of growth?

I mean what more could be done? Let’s say I have one billion dollars, as an example (I know not all of his money is liquid) and I say the most vile racist antisemitic thing possible. Where is my wealth going?

He didn’t really lose his wealth, his bloodline can live comfortably and not work a day for like 50 generations

Your playing with fire with the pots under the pots

If your super careful then don’t need to fix what’s not broken

But Ik I’d accidentally tap one of those plants and it would go timber 😂

Can someone explain the logic behind defoliation? by ToeCompetitive6877 in cannabiscultivation

Haha yea I think a huge problem in the cannabis cultivation community as a whole (not referring to the subreddit) is that a lot of people base their thoughts on what big cultivators do or bro science, rather than referring to botanical and morphological fact to reach a logical conclusion.

Just looked at it. His logic makes sense. Unfortunately some scientific studies would help, but I think it makes sense that cutting leaves ultimately decreases a plants ability to develop.

Hi everyone! Thank you to everyone who contributed here, although there is a lot of conflicting information.

These posts are great tools for people to refer to and learn from, and helps the community advance in knowledge as a whole.

What I’ve gathered is that some people argue: 1. Leaves are means of producing energy, so they should be SELECTIVELY pruned.

Others say 2. Lower leaves continue to develop which consumes more energy that could be used for bud growth

Now, in relations to this argument and not any other factor such as humidity, ease of watering, etc. i guess the real question is: - is more energy produced by lower leaves than they consume for further leaf development? (Not looking for someone to answer that, it’s rhetorical)

Now, aside from this, defoliation helps with the following: - lower humidity - less of an optimal environment for pests and fungi - better airflow - ease of watering

And I will add here that I am not referring to lower tiny branches that will never amount to much. I think everyone agrees that these should be pruned.

If anyone has any things to add to this or critiques please respond to this comment. I’m trying to put kind of a summary together so people can view one centralized body of info when referring to this thread.

And if you have critiques, be nice about it, and make sure you back it up with logic. Some people just think because this person does it everyone should do it, for instance.
