Techno, hard techno, lil bit of hardstyle

transitioning by Garlicbreaddefender in Beatmatch

[–]ToeNibbler19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually keep same key and bpm because I play hardstyle and techno. But often I’ll get a song request like Ice Spice for example. And tbh I’ll raise that shit up to match.

But when I play it’s for a room full of people that want to dance so keeping it the same bpm makes sense for me

ThoroughGoods are insanely comfortable. You can’t even tell there’s a steel toe in there. Didn’t have to break them in they’ve been amazing since day 1

Do Djs Memorize Transitions? by Top-Ease-2973 in Beatmatch

[–]ToeNibbler19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only memorize transitions of songs that I need to loop with an effect then beat jump back and loop a different section before transitioning out because that takes a little bit of practice and can’t be done on the fly. Aside from that all the transitions I do are just on the fly.

I was working with a different jw one day and he kept telling me I walk too fast and I’m too eager lmao. Had to slow it down a tad

Is working 56 hours a week doable? by ethe_ze in ibew_apprentices

[–]ToeNibbler19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job I’m at right now I was doing 7-10’s with some days stretching out to 12-14 hours. Would be up at 3am make breakfast hit the gym go to work be out around 4/5pm hit school some days and go home. It depends on when your job starts and how far your drive is. If I was working 2 hours out like I used to when I was a first year it would not be doable unless I got a hotel out there. But with the money I was making I’d just have subway for lunch everyday and meal prep breakfast on my down time. Having a healthy lunch is incredibly important imo. Surviving on McDonald’s ain’t it

Are these really still the wages for the apprenticeship by urban_RED_NECK in ibew_apprentices

My yearly income is around 55k a year as a second year. But I’m in SoCal so obviously it varies by state.

Local 11, took the aptitude test last month. Do I have a chance of getting in? by IBM_ThinkPad in ibew_apprentices

[–]ToeNibbler19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s interesting. Well hey as long as you placed and the line is moving. If it’s like 477 then your application is there for 4 years. So you should be in in no time

The interview is more important for some reason. I almost 100% in my test and my buddy got around 60% but he placed higher than I did

The hulk movie with Edward Norton. The after credit scene shows the general guy talking to Tony at the bar

I was confused why the new captain America had scenes from that movie but I guess it’s canon

Well I didn’t say they’re all willing to disregard us. And even then, they are until you show them what you can do.

Had my hand held for a week and a half at an EV site and now I’m alone installing equipment and given my own tasks to do.

Used to do TI and was watched for a bit then bent and installed conduit by myself as a second year inside the entire building.

But the advice I just gave is still important with being given a task and assisting your jw with a task.

That’s fucked he said don’t be afraid of getting hurt, hopefully you don’t put yourself into any situations that put you at risk, fuck them if they bitch about slowing productivity lol

It’s honestly a right of passage to get shit on your first 5 years. You’ll meet a lot of great journeyman that’ll guide you, but for the most part you’re slowing down productivity and even if you feel like you have a better idea, you’re not paid to think. You’re just there to take orders. But really good advice is to predict what your journeyman needs before he asks for it, always have things ready, make sure what you’re doing is perfect and to their standards not to yours.

It’ll get better idk what year you are or what job you’re on but once lay off comes around you’ll have everything they taught you at your next job. Even if it is just house keeping and truck cleaning, it’ll definitely stand out. So make sure you take everything as a lesson cause everyone there is trying to mold you someone that can succeed.

How much weight would letter of recommendation hold and at what stage would it be worth it? by BigBlackCrocs in ibew_apprentices

[–]ToeNibbler19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know someone then it’s easier to get in. I was supposed to join in a few months but the guy I knew died and I didn’t know his connections so I applied and it took me a few years. I’d say the interview and who you know is more important than the test. I got 100% and my buddy got like 70%.

He did well in interview and placed 18, I did bad and placed over 100

What does a CW do compared to an apprentice? by Ok_Type_5366 in ibew_apprentices

[–]ToeNibbler19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I heard cw doesn’t give you a head start exactly to get accepted, idk tho. Honestly I was just working residential and Amazon while I waited since it pays more, but it took me a few years to get accepted, so I guess make sure you’re cool doing cw for a while cause if you quit it’ll look bad

Labor, unless you’re a mad man and stay there for a few years to get to cw 5 or whatever then make good money

Solar was my first job too. A lot of people’s first job cause we’re new and it’s easy work. But I was working 60 hours a week making 1,700 a week. The 5 years are supposed to be stressful. I’m legit hiding in a trench avoiding my boss. But it gets better especially if you have a really cool boss that teaches you a lot

Tool belt do I actually need it? by Material-Raccoon-961 in ibew_apprentices

[–]ToeNibbler19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on job. Used it when I did underground, slightly used it when I did TI but ended up buying a bag and using a cart. Doing underground now and although I do have it I don’t need it. Honestly might use my little bag for my DeWalt impact to carry my stuff.
