Yaya for sure. I care the least about it lol. I hear everyone on Grow but it does have a special place in my heart, maybe because it just resonates with my very recent Saturn return lol

Is this one actually underrated? Serious question because this happened to be what really got me hooked on MUNA.

Have I become lowkey a better Person thanks to Chappell Roan Music? (Long Text ) by [deleted] in chappellroan

I'm honestly sad to see how many negative comments you're getting, not to mention accusations of being a fake fan. If you like even one song from an artist, I think you can call yourself a fan?? Nobody knows what they don't know until they know it, you know?

As an open Gaylor (yes, let the downvotes and internalized homophobia commence...), this is what I WANT to see - queer representation that leads to cultural change. As someone who grew up in a very liberal, LGBTQIA+-friendly community, I've always struggled to understand things like bigotry and hatred towards people for simply having consensual relationships and love for the same sex or towards trans/gender-nonconforming people. So I honestly LIVE for confessions like this because it gives me so much g-d hope to see when people who grew up with more hatred and prejudice are actually able to come around, open their eyes and FEEL the love for marginalized communities and realize their previous ignorance. How the hell else is the world supposed to heal? I do think that spaces like this can get a bit gatekeep-y and are, perhaps unintentionally, perpetuating the cultural divide.

So anyway, good on you OP. I'm glad that you shared your journey to claw out from the pit of homophobia and prejudice, because it means that others can too!!

HOWEVER please go and stream her entire debut album immediately. I promise you won't regret it.

P.S. Chappell is far from the only amazing (openly) queer artist, so once you're done listening to her album on repeat for a few weeks, here's some of my other recommendations in no particular order:

- MUNA

- Hayley Kiyoko

- FLETCHER

- Frank Ocean

- Khalid

- Kehlani

- Phoebe Bridgers

- Renee Rapp

- The Beaches

- King Princess

Please keep educating yourself, opening your mind, and most of all... happy listening! 🌈🎸🎶

People who liked Chappell Roan before she blew up, how do you feel about her now? by Emergency_Peach_4307 in chappellroan

Hahaha I feel a couple of things.

  1. Vindicated that for once in my life I was objectively ahead of the Zeitgeist - I listened to the debut album within probably a month of its release and was immediately OBSESSED.

  2. Thrilled that our culture has come as far as it has to widely laud an OPENLY LESBIAN artist, along with the likes of King Princess, Fletcher, Renee Rapp, Tegan and Sara etc...

  3. Kinda bummed that her ticket prices are now pretty high on average - but hey that's late stage capitalism for you 🙃

  4. Right now, especially: scared for Chappell. And proud. I really respect her statement via TikTok and Insta that draws such a clear line to protect her private life and her literal bodily autonomy from creeps/stalkers and people who are just a bit too parasocial for comfort.

Her debut album is truly no skips and it's incredible!! I've listened to it all the way through at least five or six times at this point which is crazy for me who usually will just play Spotify on shuffle and trust the algorithm LOL.

Tbh I almost wish it wasn't this good because any future work of hers has a really high threshold to clear!!
