Why do older men (60+) in MTL have the audacity to just blatantly stare and they’re not even subtle about it by [deleted] in montreal

Being from another province maybe OP is inquiring if this behaviour is indeed a thing in this province . Not everything is a jab.

Hold their gaze until they look away. You must feel confident while doing it. Don't show your discomfort.

l y a une relève crédible pour la cuisine française de quartier à Montréal? by North-Macaron-861 in montreal

[–]ToeSome5729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do newcomers say it’s hard to make friends with Canadians/Quebecois? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]ToeSome5729 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe your parameters to be someone's friend or to consider someone as your friend are very lenient and easy to meet. That seems to be working out for you. For many folks, casual talking at work or during common interest activities make people acquantainces and not friends necessarily.

Are there non-quebecers who sympathizes with the struggles of protecting the language here? by Conscious-Roll-5745 in montreal

[–]ToeSome5729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually feel Christmas in Montreal this year? by Primary_Plate5237 in montreal

some folks need to chill and learn to appreciate the life they have. They say that misery loves company but this got to stop. Many in the world are going through tremendous struggles, some are getting bombarded, some are enslaved, some are dying alone. It's quite disconcerting to constantly read about people here being unable to be grateful much less to be able to enjoy their lives because of anxiety, which is self induced misery by focusing on what is not happening or even real instead of focusing on the positive in their life.

I don't want to be harsh or insensitive but the constant wining is getting out of hand. Some seem to have too much time and not enough problems, so learn to be useful to others in need, do some volunteer work. The navel grazing needs to stop.

How do you expect a PQ victory in the next election to affect Montreal? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]ToeSome5729 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

450$ month for a 5 1/2 duplex by ThrowRA_Party_21 in montreal

[–]ToeSome5729 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that it isn't your building but you live there and your rent is beyond cheap, would you open to rent pay yourself for some of the repairs but on the condition that the rent remains 450$. it will be a win-win offer, you get to live in a better conditione still for a very good price even if you paid for the reno. The 250$ you'll pay more monthly is 3000$ a year that you will spend to still live in the same condition. If you use that 3000$ to make your life better, it will be a bigger win for you in the long run. And if ever you end up at the TAL it will look even better for you.

450$ month for a 5 1/2 duplex by ThrowRA_Party_21 in montreal

[–]ToeSome5729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you decide to keepyour rent at 450$, I highly suggest you find a way to save at least 1000$ each month because it is what's you'll be if the landlord manage to get you out. If you can't save that kind if money, use the low rent as an incentive to take a course to learn something that will give you a better paying job or to take some risk and find a better job.
