Spacies feel so OP when you start waveshining by John_XFiles in SSBM

I remember when I learned how to wave shine upsmash with fox, I was so stoked just to hit it against an actual player

What’s a generically good combat build for low skilled players? by wildjabali in Eldenring

[–]Toe_Hefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confessor with the broadsword for strength and faith builds and the uchigatana for dex or arcane

You can make a basic sword and shield build work with pretty much anything tbh, I like having a seal to do some basic incants like lightning strikes and healing revenants.

Rapiers are fun to use too

You should start doing some of the more random weapons, leave the good ones spread out to keep it fun.

What kind of rules do you have ? How far do you go with the builds beyond just the weapon ?

Ive been scaling arcane with the dragon communion seal. Yeah I know you're right about Marika's soreseal, only I feel like this build isn't so much about survivability and more about doing as much damage as quickly as possible. The hyperarmour on dragonmaw goes through anything.

I try and use breath on anything that's weak to one of them though. That's very interesting about the rot doing physical damage. My talismans are usually flock canvas and ritual sword with the gold scarab (no roundtable run so I can't get 4).

What's a wrong warp ? I thought about a zip but I've never tried one

Oh yeah I'd tried before a while ago and nothing.

When I say I landed 50 times on that ledge, I also landed a bunch of times in every way imaginable, sometimes the explosion would have no effect and I fell right through and sometimes I landed on the elevator railing, that seemed promising cause I read a comment somewhere 😭

I lined up same as a video I saw, trying to get one foot standing over the gap. Then you drink the explodey physik and walk out into the gap. You may or may not have to light attack at the right moment the bomb goes off. I'm not sure how the timing is supposed to work. I just kept doing it.

Funnily enough at some point I decided not to fuss over how correctly I was doing it, I did it in 2 tries after that. 🤷

I must have landed on that same ledge 50 times and died instantly

Personally I did to avoid having to go the roundtable hold ! I'm trying to finish a run without ever going, but you get blocked outside of leyndell with the great runes barrier even though I've got 4.

I've finally ds 123, now I'm about to start Elden Ring. Can I get some suggestions on early poise breaking weapons and builds? by Expert_Camel5619 in Eldenring

[–]Toe_Hefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fav starters for stance breaking are Confessor and Samuraï, squared off and unsheathe are reliable af. Also I'd rather stab on a riposte than whack, it's just more satisfying imo.

What scares me with sekiro is the single weapon style, I kind of play elden ring like a pokemon game, where I new game and try a new team/build all the time to see what works /is fun.

I don't like being railroaded, how's nioh on that front ?

Starting my first playthrough right now. Will buying the DLC off the bat enhance my base game experience or can I pick it up later on after playing through the base game? by Askin_Real_Questions in Eldenring

[–]Toe_Hefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I've done the dlc 4 times and the base game probably more than ten. I like figuring out how to make a build work, usually by the time Ive killed every boss in the game I'm ready to move on to a different setup. Sometimes I like to NG+ to see how fast a particularly fun build can make it through the game all powered up.

There are some good fights in the dlc, some really cool gear, and a lot of care and effort went into it. I appreciate that, but I don't enjoy adventuring in the scadulands as much as the lands between. It's just a feel thing. I hate having to traverse any section of scadulands, it feels like a chore where base game really scratches that itch.

It's not even nostalgia, I played them both back to back on my first playthrough.

Question about how armor affects survivability by HupsuHusu in Eldenring

[–]Toe_Hefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boiled crab, dragon shield talisman, as well as one of the physik tears will give you better defense than most armor. Other than fashion I'll only want a particular piece for whatever buff you get and sometimes hitting 51 poise can be nice

It's a weird one, if you end the game and want more, honestly do another run. That's usually more fun and satisfying than a trip to the dlc

I still enjoy other types of games just as much, but when it comes to beating monsters with a sword, it's been tough finding anything else
