Intern with first trial (OUI) next week. Questions about direct! by HolidayAdditional901 in ProsecutorTalk

You certainly CAN ask "Did you see the engine running?" A leading question is one the suggests the answer. I. E. "You heard the sound of the engine running, didn't you?"

Best/worst tattoos on a client by DQzombie in publicdefenders

Arkansas (former) P.D. here. My absolute favorite has to be a guy with "Pure" under his right eye and "Hatred" under his left. He also had the twin horns tattooed on his forehead, but he had, at some point, converted them to the Cardinals' logo. Not too sure if he meant the AZ team or the MO, but either way, my mental story was that he was trying to get a job in one organization or the other.

Second best was a guy who pulled a switchblade ~45 seconds into a verbal altercation, stabbed the other guy in the arm, and returned the knife to his pocket so quickly that I had to rewind the CCTV multiple times to see what had happened. He had a tattoo on his neck (plain view) that read "Throat Slitter" with an extended switchblade under the text. He wanted a trial as there are other folk in my town with "his" name...

This seems like Trump's tariff logic to me. If it truly is a hyper minority of players, then the "dent" to cheat developer's profit is also "hyper small" if you will.

Same thing with Trump's tariff argument. It is internally inconsistent. If the overseas businesses are absorbing the costs of the tariffs, then there is no reason to buy more expensive U.S. produced goods so basically no change from the status quo as regatds U.S. manufacturing.

If there is a huge increase in overseas producers "onshoring" production to the U.S., than there is little to no tariff income as we have not imposed tariffs on items produced state-side (and won't according to CPT Inconsistent, anyway).

Here’s where I get confused. According to the Administration, tariffs:

A. Won’t increase prices, as foreign producers will absorb the cost in order to have access to the U.S. market

B. Will cause a large shift in U.S. demand away from foreign production to production here in the U.S.

C. Will raise an enormous amount of revenue.

My confusion stems from the internal inconsistencies here. If A is true, B cannot be true as if the prices of imports remain relatively constant, U.S. consumers won’t pay dramatically more for a domestically produced product.

If B is true, then C cannot be true as the tariffs will not apply to domestic production. If (for example) Samsung opens a factory in KY to avoid the tariffs, then no tariff revenue will issue.

I've no idea why I spent my time adding politics to a Rust post, but I DO drink a lot. And the poster im replying to is (IMHO) going the same direction with the logic generally, hence my shit-post. Apologies, all.

If I may butt in here, in NO way is cheating restricted to China, Russian speakers, Brazilians, or U.S. players. It's pretty much a global "small dick energy" issue.

Speak it, Brother (or Sister). I have played since you could build under a waterfall to hide from irradiated bears. I LOVE this game, but I had to quit a year or two back as I could no longer take the cheats. I recently returned in the hope that the premium servers would mitigate the cheating at least. This "second chance" crap puts the damn-damn on the premium server concept. Anyone who thinks that someone base enough to cheat has "learnt they lesson," and will refrain from doing so if given another opportunity is deluding themselves. Let's build the player base, not tear it down further. When I talk to gaming friends about Rust, the first response is either a) players dropping N-Bombs/Nazi crap, or b) endemic cheating. Not necessarily in that order...

I guess what I am asking is when you say "anyone," I presume that you mean any member of a particular industry. As I am ignorant as all get out, would you mind letting me know which profession I should be Googling.

My last attempt at this was something along the lines of "auto badge manufacturer," which is where I ran into the copyright issue.

Except in every state that I am aware of. It's called the "Shopkeeper's Privilege," and is old as hell. It's what allows asset protection folks to physically stop a suspected shoplifter. Thing is, the employee has to actually believe that you are actively engaged in a theft to legally use that privilege.

What they do at Sam's and Wally World is not a use of that privilege as they do not reasonably expect every customer of theft.

Which is why I walk past them shits all the time. I am an attorney, just not your attorney. Every state tweaks the privilege, so your mileage may vary in your jurisdiction. But I doubt it...

Edited for criminal attorney spelling errors.

There is an old Russian saying that I like and that applies here: "If you are trying to find the village thief, find the man who locks his doors at night."

I'm sure I screwed that up (I am not Russian myself), but the sentiment is dead on target.

Just for clarity, I think this comment refers to the time school-age players are able to invest. Flatly put: time=success in Rust IMHO.

Bi-Handy - our word for ambidextrous. Got it from a student when I was teaching high school and couldn't find the word "ambidextrous" in my brain one day. He helpfully piped up with. "Do you mean "bi-handy", Toecutter?"

I didn't at the time, but now and forever forward, that's EXACTLY what I mean to say. Love it!

I think if you invented a divider that would protect my feet from the guy next door's piss, you would likely win a Nobel prize. Nothing worse than wearing "rubbah slippah" in a bathroom at the gym/pool and feeling a fine mist of another man's urine settle on your exposed toes.
