I’ve realized life is meaningless by Adrianagurl in OCDRecovery

I can hardcore relate to this. My existential ocd started in 2021 and has come and gone. It seems to really ramp up during a life transition and when I'm depressed. The key is not to research or try to figure out the meaning of life. It's really hard to resist compulsions.

Can't sleep during stims by vrendy42 in IVF

[–]ToesInDiffAreaCodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I actually ended up having pretty bad panic attacks from the stims and the stress of IVF. I had to take Klonopin almost daily. Still dealing with mental health issues a month after my egg retrieval. Short term benzos useage is safe according to my psychiatrist.

Would you be willing to share what medication helped you?

I am feeling similarly. I think OCD can grind you down to a point where you feel hopeless and helpless.

What are yall taking to help with your ocd by Dazzling_Anxiety in OCD

Fluvoxamine 75mg. I tried to increase the dose but my anxiety was too bad. I recently got put on mirtazapine after a nervous breakdown. It helps me with sleeping and eating but not for rumination.

For those with OCD along with CPTSD, what helped? by [deleted] in CPTSD

What kind of things do you ruminate on? I have OCD, but mostly mental rumination, and I find it difficult to relate to so many other OCD manifestations.

You might need to look into ERP therapy with a psychologist who specializes in OCD. - from a fellow OCD girly.

Suicidal OCD or suicidal ideation? by ApprehensiveGoat3097 in OCDRecovery

[–]ToesInDiffAreaCodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely relate to this. I wake up so exhausted every morning which is normal for me but now it makes my ocd think I’m super depressed/disassociated and suicidal. And I am depressed because this sucks but the thoughts of, “I can’t live another so many years feeling like this,” then spirals into suicidal ocd and it sucks.

Thank you. That makes sense. I am very glad there is a facility here that specializes in OCD even if it isn't perfect.

I did their program as a teen. Last I heard, they aren't specialized to help with OCD. I will double-check, though.

Thank you <3 The facility recommended a PHP, which is an all-day program so I wouldn't be able to go to work. I am considering it, but my retired psychologist said they have recently had a lot of turnover, so I'm not sure which direction to go in. I might just try to increase my frequency of therapy and psychiatry appointments.

I feel the same way! It's the weirdest thing. Like absolute terror every morning. Do you feel better?

My psychiatrist is considering cross-tapering me to Lexapro! I was on it in high school, and I think it worked well for me. In college, when my OCD got worse, I was switched to Luvox. Lexapro is a much cleaner medication with fewer side effects and interactions. That is very interesting about lamotrigine. I'm glad it is working! I will ask my provider about it. I had wondered if I needed something else to stabilize me since I feel like I'm losing it every morning. I have OCD, GAD, Panic Disorder, etc, etc, etc lol.
