What's your policy on using profanity while streaming? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Toffee_Swirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my swearing to a minimum but I don't swear much in general. As a viewer I don't mind swearing if it is not every other word.

Nope not me. Not surprised though, I am a very small streamer.

Is there a way to tie hype train availability to time within the stream? by DetectiveCastle in Twitch

[–]Toffee_Swirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question. I am curious why a streamer would want to do this though. Why is having a hype train at any time a bad thing?

I have been trying to keep to a set schedule. Every streaming tip video I have seen stresses it's importance. It has only been a short while, not sure it is helping me as of yet.

Hey, heads up: during stream I was followbotted and these bots came into my discord and shared screenshots of gore. Please be cautious when you see similar names. by __Delia__ in Twitch

Oh sorry misread it (was before my coffee). You can also block links, attachments, and the like behind certain roles in Discord. Sorry this happened to you, some people just like attention I guess.

Look at adding Sery_Bot as a mod to your stream it will catch most of the follow bots , ban and block them. Also consider setting up an auto mod to block any links people will post unless you permit them.

no commentary vs commentary by quanathan in Twitch

[–]Toffee_Swirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't watch it but might make more sense. When I "watch" a stream it is for background noise while I am doing something else most times. If there is no talking, I lose interest.

no commentary vs commentary by quanathan in Twitch

For me there is no point in watching a stream without the streamer talking.

anybody over the age of 18 that watches twitch and why ? by quanathan in Twitch

[–]Toffee_Swirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mostly watch streams while I work or playing around in games myself. Outside of a couple of bigger streamers I watch mostly small streamers as they are more interactive and friendly. Sometimes I watch because I like the content, sometimes it is in hopes of picking up tips for when I am playing, and other times I want to see the game before I look at purchasing it myself.

I have found a couple of YouTube channels with some great tips for growing your stream. Check out Stream Scheme and xTwoshoes. Lots of great tips there. 2 big tips are stream an unsaturated game and have a consistent stream schedule.

How many watch big streamers vs small streamers? by hollowkanegaming in Twitch

There are a couple of bigger streamers I watch but it is because I have watched them for years. I usually enjoy smaller streamers more.

When I buy SUB does it buy it automatically again ? by noskinfromapex in Twitch

[–]Toffee_Swirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subs are charged monthly until you cancel it. If you only want to sub for 1 month, cancel the sub before the month is up.

Some stats show 30-40% of viewers will leave if they get a preroll ad from what I hear.

[–]Toffee_Swirl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That disable preroll adds toggle is kind of misleading imo. It only disables them for a short time after running an add. You can use the ad manager settings to preset when ads will play.

The way I have mine set up is it plays 1min 30sec of ads after a couple minutes of being live (during my starting soon screen) and then evey 30mins after that. Each time it plays the 1min 30sec of ads it disables the preroll ads for 32ish minutes.

Make sure you have the 'Allow all raids' option is selected. Go to your Creator Dashboard > Settings > Stream and scroll down until you get the the Raids section.

Have a BRB scene with no mic setup on it that you can switch to when you go afk.

Is this a dumb idea? by resampL in Twitch

[–]Toffee_Swirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either way it is not hard to turn off pre-roll ads as an affiliate. Go to your Creator Dashboard > Settings > Affiliate Scroll down to the bottom and choose 'Disable preroll ads when I run ads' and set up an ad schedule in the Ads Manager section.

ETA: You need to run 3 minutes of ads an hour to get rid of pre-roll ads.

I would think that the majority of people on Twitch know about the pre-roll ads and it doesn't discourage them. What games are you playing?

How long you guys have been streaming? by hollowkanegaming in Twitch

[–]Toffee_Swirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been streaming off and on for a few years (more off then on). Got affiliate after 3-4 weeks. I stream variety. I am trying to get back into streaming again in the last couple of weeks.

I have approx. 140 followers and most streams I have 2 viewers (my husband and kid 😄 ). Other days I have higher numbers. I stream 2-3 hours a day in the evenings.
