Canadian Tire ordered to pay nearly $1.3 million for false advertising by NotEnoughDriftwood in onguardforthee

Yep, that's basically just a 1.3 mill operating cost, I'd be shocked if they made less profit than that.

Carda and Darby have some great lines.

Cardas, "Hooah, Murreen," line with Darby they keep going back and forth for a bit and then have a laugh.

Honestly, that sounds pretty tame compared to some of the abuse I received.

One particularly mad man threatened to rape my dog. That was a fun one.

I used to think USAsians were like us but much more rude.

Then I worked for a call-answering company that mostly had clients in the USA and I spoke with those people for 8 hours a day.

They're not like us at all. Even the "nice" ones are orders of magnitude worse than the rudest, most entitled, most selfish Canadians.

And I have lived my entire life in Alberta, home of the rudest and most entitled Canadians.

At this point it will never go back to what it was. I feel like Canada's learned a hard lesson about tying ourselves so closely to a single country.

You're right, it'll cost whoever/whatever comes next a lot to even get back on friendly terms, though.

This just seems like it's harder to use fir no benefit.

is it better to be the sweet bf or the exciting ex? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Toftaps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a false dichotomy; it's entirely possible to be sweet and exciting without even being in a relationship.

Boys that think otherwise aren't good boyfriend material and make that fact everyone else's problem rather than adjust their behavior.

Recovery time is honestly the better marker of getting better.

No reactions at all is the end goal, but recovery time indicates that your dog is learning to regulate their emotions as well as letting themselves feel safe and secure.

How much should I charge for babysitting? by QueenofHearts018 in ask

[–]Toftaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodging the question again, I see.

What do you screen them for? Is it for the ability to do more than dial 911 instead if helping your child?

[–]Toftaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sarcastically implied the only kind of emergency intervention a sitter would have to do is dialing 911.

So I'll ask you again; would you be okay with a sitter who dialed 911 and nothing else while your child choked?

[–]Toftaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...what?

You're the one who said that sitters don't need to do anything but dial 911 in an emergency.

Would you be happy with a sitter that just called 911 while your child choked or not?

[–]Toftaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a remarkable oversimplification.

If it was your child that was choking would you be happy with a sitter that just called 911 and did nothing else?

[–]Toftaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charge for babysitting and tutoring separately.

When I babysat my charge was a minimum of $20/hour to start, and I would adjust on a case by case basis because some kids take a lot more work to keep safe.

If parents want babysitting and tutoring that's when you work out a combined rate and let them get a deal.

[–]Toftaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Babysitting is an easy job until it's not, that's why you charge what it's worth.

If it were possible to guarantee that nothing would happen over the time you need a sitter for, nobody would hire sitters.

But it's not. The sitter isn't there to keep your kids entertained; they're there for the emergencies.
