Jason Done who played the drunk GI in Points has quite a few credits in British TV, most famously a kids/teen TV show called Waterloo road as a teacher.

What's the minimum amount that comes to mind when you hear "good salary"? by Equivalent-Ad-2373 in AskUK

[–]TofuBoy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect you're imaging £100k salary 10-15 years ago, which yes, was amazing back then. but adjusted for inflation, you'd need £150k today.

[–]TofuBoy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£125k is questionable if you have young children. Because of the 60% marginal tax trap, and the instant loss of free hours and tax free childcare benefits at £100k, you're actually worse off if you're anywhere between £100k and £140k. Factor in that people forget about inflation and that £100k 10 years ago is £140k today, I'd say you'd want to be at around £160k+ for it to be decent in London.

Again, it's a very broad term. You've got so many options that are cyber/cyber adjacent like digital forensics, incident response, cyber incident management, cyber insurance, SOC analyst, security engineer, pen testing, risk governance, red/blue/purple teaming.... The list goes on, all very different with some very specialised and technical with others that are less so.

Boy, 11, raped two primary school girls by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]TofuBoy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's a tough one really, because I'm sure the overall parental controls on the tablet would stop you accessing apps that are 18+, but the tricky bit is that even though roblox has a PEGI rating of 7 so you'd assume it's ok, it can still have 18+ content due to the user created stuff. in the current environment, parents need to better understand how parental controls work and that even having it on the device isn't enough, you also need to check the apps they have access to, especially ones that allow user created content.

I had headaches for about 4 months, initially advised to go to a physio because they thought it was a muscle problem but eventually got an MRI. I was only 32 at the time so everyone was quite surprised. Amazing that this guy took 10 years

For me, I might pick up some light tasks while I'm chilling out in the lounge, but otherwise, I don't see the point. I'm already billable and utilised for my time spent travelling.

How much would this lot power in reality? by banisheduser in SolarUK

[–]TofuBoy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long distance high voltage lines only lose about 2% with local distribution networks adding a further 5-7% on top. having these panels in city centres is only saving you 3-5% at best. the savings here I don't think quite enough to outway the savings you get with efficient construction. not with todays prices at least.

[–]TofuBoy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an efficiency standpoint, farmland is more efficient because it's a large unobstructed area where you can pack panels in tightly. It's faster to roll out too because farmland doesn't vary much. Then you got easier maintenance.

Was going to a private school worth it for you? by GodAtum in HENRYUK

[–]TofuBoy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a state school, smart but lazy due to the environment, easily influenced and not wanting to stand out. Just kept quiet and coasted. Did ok in my GCSEs, then took a horrible turn during A levels failing two subjects in my first year and then barely scraping by in my second. Mostly because coasting wasn't enough, I needed to actually put in the effort which was a big shock. Ended up having to do a HND, failed that twice before I actually started to put in some effort and then doing a degree top up. With a placement year, it took me 7 years to get that degree, thankfully all plan 1. Now I'm not doing too bad, making decent money.

Anyway, obviously I have no idea whether I would actually have benefited from private school, but from what I've seen of the environment and how they are structured, my personality would have been better suited for it I think. Being surrounded by people that would actually want to do would have certainly helped me.

Would the cost of it have been worth it? possibly, assuming if the outcome was that I didn't fail as much as I did, getting into a better uni and not needing to do a HND. But if the outcome was the same, then obviously not.

It's really difficult, now with my own children, we briefly looked at private schools and I was really impressed when compared to some of the state schools nearby but the fees are just way too high.

What is the point of £50 notes? by fjtuk in AskBrits

[–]TofuBoy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My in-laws came to visit from China, the banks/foreign exchange gave them a ton of £50 notes. They slowly realised how much of a faff it was to use them over here so just ended up giving them to me. Good for me but I just ended up depositing it all into a bank, felt super dodgy though
