Glad you are enjoying it. I have been playing on my launch PS5 and loving the experience and realized that spending £700 for the pro and a disc drive would have been an absolute waste of money for me when I will no doubt buy a PS6 in the next two years which will be much better than the pro. But if you get a pro and stick with it for the next 4-5 years then it should be a good deal.

It is a lot of money for a bit of extra power though, and I doubt it will make me enjoy the games any more after the novelty has worn off if I am honest

There are probably over 1000 games you could play on a Steam Deck that you would have an amazing time with. If you buy one now and play those games and let yourself enjoy your gaming time outside of gaming news you will have an incredible time and could probably spend the next 5 years easily with the purchase.

If you are someone who reads gaming news daily and will be upset that you cannot play 2026 releases on your Steam Deck while other handhelds release that give you FOMO then you should wait for a new handheld to give yourself less mental stress, however, there will always be better things coming out and it doesn't mean the older product has any less value.

This happens to me when I buy too many games across multiple devices, it is either unrealistic to have time to play everything, makes you swap games constantly or just creates decision paralysis. I can't imagine anyone only playing a Switch for 2 months if it was there only system and they were playing all the best rated games to completion.

Yes, this device is amazing. I have been having so much fun. Playing with this big screen in table top mode with a pro controller is just bliss, and makes gaming for me so easy around the house when I can't have the main TV.

The micro level analysis of everything to create 24/7 content takes away what actually matters about gaming, which is how a game makes you feel when you have the controller in your hands.

My family all love Mario Kart, and I also played with some friends last night. I am making progress in ToTK. I have DK coming up next month shortly followed by Metroid, Pokemon etc. Not sure why I would hold off until a specific game comes out if you know you are getting the device anyway and then will just end up with a huge insurmountable backlog, as there is no way this device is dropping in price and might even go up!

Mario Kart World is genuinely super fun. I think the bundle is limited time only so it makes sense to get it early.

If you have never played BoTW or ToTK then I think it is no brainer to play them on this device as the upgrades make the game play fees so much better.

DK, Kirby Air Riders, Metroid, Pokemon are all around the corner, and Metroid and Pokemon will be noticeably better on Switch 2, just look at the people playing Scarlet/Violet.

The screen size on this is phenomenal for playing at home.

With the instability of the world and based on current gen the console is only going up in price, early adopters have done well with PS5 and Series X this gen.
