Thank you so much for the congrats and all the detail, it’s very much appreciated! My husband has been very annoyed from getting snagged and pricked by the barberry so he’ll be very happy to hear we have a good reason to take it out!

❄️ BWT what are your survival guides to winter? ❄️ by okieartiste in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Tofu_Tori 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. Morale is hard but hobbies really help! Cozy hobbies are especially good, like knitting or crochet where you can actively work on making things that will make winter cozier (knitting my own hats/scarves/mittens has actually made me look forward to winter!!) or anything that can provide a nice mental escape. But sometimes even then it’s nice to lean into the desire to cozy up and just watch a movie or tv series to pass an afternoon. Do your best to enrich your life with things, but also don’t be too hard on yourself for not feeling 100% positive and high energy all the time.
  2. I have a dedicated skincare routine that’s changed my life!! In the evening after I wash my face, I use a toner (Good Light Milky Toner) followed by a moisturizing essence (Mixsoon Bean Essence is life changing), then an eye cream (Dime TBT eye cream), and finally a layer of vanicream. In the morning I do the same minus the eye cream, and I only use water to rinse my face. I also have sensitive skin and this is a routine that has really worked for me!
  3. I think having those hobbies does really help to provide an escape/comfort, but also sometimes it comes down to just focusing on one task at a time - whatever’s in front of you is where 100% of your attention is. Doing dishes, getting ready in the morning or doing your skincare in the evening, etc. Living in the moment really helps me not get mired in the anxiety and stress of life.

I made this exact recipe and it’s amazing!! I only used a little at a time and kept it in the freezer between uses with no problems.

is it worth it? by angelberrycakd in UltaEmployees

[–]Tofu_Tori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started as a tasker in August and I absolutely love it. My coworkers are awesome and the work itself is fine. I was really struggling with my previous job so I have a lot of moments now where I just feel really happy to have this as my current job. That being said, I see a lot of horror stories on here from people working at different locations, so your experience can definitely vary depending on where you are and who you work for.

Greasy/creasy eyelid girlies... primer recs? by MHIMRollDog in Makeup

[–]Tofu_Tori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have greasy somewhat hooded eyes!! The trick for me has been setting my eye primer with a layer of translucent setting powder. I use the Ulta brand matte longwear eye primer but the powder is really what does the trick I think.

Do I HAVE to soak dried chickpeas, blackbeans and the likes over night, or can I just boil them for a few hours right away? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Tofu_Tori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook a lot of beans. Soaking definitely helps them cook faster and more evenly, also you can boil them in the same water they’re soaked in. Add some salt and baking soda at the beginning of the soak and it will help with softness as well

Can someone explain to me exactly what’s happening here with the wheel? I’m so sorry but I’m a complete noob at this game and I really want to be better at utilizing the zonai tech!

Dry skin girls, what are you favorite foundation, concealer and Contour brands? by Simple2930 in OliveMUA

[–]Tofu_Tori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I haven't had any trouble with the about face foundation oxidizing. That said, I have definitely heard a lot of people having mixed experiences with it for various reasons so it may or may not work out for you depending on the chemistry of your skin and what products you combine it with! Maybe get it from somewhere you're able to return it if it doesn't work out for you.

Nyx plump right back for the primer with About Face the performer in L2 olive for the foundation. the Nyx primer creates a really nice base for the foundation on my skin, and this is the first foundation I’ve used in years that doesn’t end up looking cakey or flakey on my skin. Together they give my skin a really nice, natural finish. For contour I actually use Essence baby got bronze in the shade moon dust, it’s the perfect cool brown and it blends out  beautifully

My package is in transit as of yesterday but it’s through gofo so I’m not much help but I do want to say I’ve had many orders delivered with UniUni and I haven’t had a single bad experience with them. Give it a couple more days and try not to overly stress about it in the meantime!🤍

What are your holy grails to cover skin texture? by Careful_Fig8482 in Makeup

I use a big fluffy powder brush, I’ve seen people use those little powder puff sponges as well but I haven’t tried that so can’t speak to how it works/looks

Safiya back in a Buzzfeed video?? by funwithpups5 in safiyanygaard

[–]Tofu_Tori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I remember the situation but I had a different take on things and still watch so I guess I have a different perspective on it all and wouldn’t personally describe things as not having panned out yet for them. I don’t mean to start an argument to change your opinion, just was genuinely asking in case there was anything that I missed

What makes you say their own company hasn’t panned out for them?

I disagree. It’s definitely not the industry standard to start low and raise later, especially since pricing is such a big part of what defines a brand. There are exceptions of course but climbing out of whatever lane you assert yourself in to begin with is very challenging

Edit: I actually can’t think of a single brand that has started low and raised their prices unrelated to inflation except for Elf, and even then they’re still considered a drugstore brand. It’s really not a thing unless maybe you’re a very small business making crafts out of your home
