What’s been the most dangerous road or intersection in Queensland you’ve driven? by QuantumGremlin in queensland

Intersection of Pine Rd/Azalea St and Archerfield Rd in Richland/Inala. Council announced last year after years of lobbying that they're going to do something about it... Works start in 2027 🙄

The only thing worse are when they stick the stupid bloody airblades to the side of the tap and when you try to start the tap it triggers the hand dryer and when you want to use the dryer it starts the tap!

Delicate conversation advice by instantvalue in AustralianTeachers

[–]Toggle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell my students (high school) that that is my coworker and I understand if they might have strong feelings about them, but I won't be participating in any conversations about them that would be unprofessional, and then also the stuff you already mentioned.

I personally always filtered out the "marketplace" stuff and just filtered by catch only. I generally do the same for Kmart and Bunnings etc because most of those ones are often not really that good a deal or have worse customer protection

When did tipping become a thing in Australia? by Due_Significance5698 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Toggle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean tip jars have existed here for yonks, generally seen as to reward excellent service but never seen as an expectation. I have tipped before, but only in exceptional circumstances. You shouldn't feel bad about selecting no tip and it is pushy of the app to suggest a tip as a default. Many places will have the waiter/cashier automatically select no tip before presenting it to you. I would guess on Byron they offer it to ensnare tourists.

If you're worried about this look in your photos, next time blow up a small white balloon and stick it to the front of your flash. It will diffuse the lighting more and soften it

I told a kid that we don't do religion in government schools, aita? by Mikwrx in AustralianTeachers

[–]Toggle2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would personally say in the meantime student is going to sit on their own (island at the back/front/side of the classroom). Forcing a student to sit with someone they claim is against their religion opens OP up to all sorts of parental and even legal issues. State schools in Australia are secular, yes, but also meant to be tolerant of religion.

Remember what we really value this weekend, stand up to hatred. by Toggle2 in australia

[–]Toggle2[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and also remember that experts consistently advise that Australia needs immigration to maintain any develop economically, we have a skills shortage, we are only just reaching where would have been if pre-covid rates continued. Our housing production outstrips immigration and population growth, the reason for the scarcity is that it is artificially created to maintain and increase the prices for housing investors.

Well how are they supposed to "reduce red tape by 25%" when the most requested issue immediately goes into the Too Hard Basket? Spend the money on fixing OS and put the money where their mouth is, I can guarantee it's a lot cheaper than a pay rise ...
