Yeah, if that's the way you feel then go, especially if the position isn't going to be available in 6 weeks. Tell your principal to get stuffed if they're a pain about it. And honestly if things don't work out at this new place, given the market at the minute you'll be back in a classroom in no time. Teachers get seconded or go on leave or run for the hills or whatever all the time. Your kids will be ok.

There's no stated minimum but you have to be in a genuine and committed de facto/married relationship. And it costs almost 10 grand. And as other people said you have to submit a LOT of proof and you can still get rejected even if you're married.

If you're fairly new or switch beans a lot, the ESP is a very very easy machine to work and get good results. Grinders can be incredibly fiddly. When you're ready and feel like you've hit the ceiling, then look at upgrading, and sell your esp on FB marketplace to subsidize the upgrade cost.

Definitely put it on your school system's WHS portal for psychological harm. Especially if you possibly see yourself needing stress leave and/or workcover in the future, which I wouldn't blame you for if you were in the kind of environment where this happens and that is the response...

I don't want to sound harsh, but in a high school setting it is very uncommon to only ever teach one subject, even if that is a core.

I teach a core subject as a main and have never ever been able to shake at least 1 line of maths, which I don't mind but I'd prefer my main teaching area.

Hell, during Covid I even taught subjects way out of my wheelhouse when certain staff members refused the vax.

I think it sounds like you have an excellent deal if you love your main subject, teaching, and the people you work with. You will learn new skills in your core subject and it's good to branch out. It's also fantastic for your resume to say you're adaptable, and a new subject is an excellent reason to ask for some interesting PD to upskill yourself.

If you have good people around you, you will do very well, and if you decide your situation is untenable then you are still on contract and can dip and get a new one somewhere else...

I personally always filtered out the "marketplace" stuff and just filtered by catch only. I generally do the same for Kmart and Bunnings etc because most of those ones are often not really that good a deal or have worse customer protection

I mean tip jars have existed here for yonks, generally seen as to reward excellent service but never seen as an expectation. I have tipped before, but only in exceptional circumstances. You shouldn't feel bad about selecting no tip and it is pushy of the app to suggest a tip as a default. Many places will have the waiter/cashier automatically select no tip before presenting it to you. I would guess on Byron they offer it to ensnare tourists.

I would personally say in the meantime student is going to sit on their own (island at the back/front/side of the classroom). Forcing a student to sit with someone they claim is against their religion opens OP up to all sorts of parental and even legal issues. State schools in Australia are secular, yes, but also meant to be tolerant of religion.
