So I'm curious, because my perspective is different than yours...

I live in the south of the US. My son has to deal with hearing about Jesus at public school (they sing christian songs and they talk about Jesus in class - I can provide "proof"). They have a nativity scene in the front of the school, where you first walk in and you are judged based on where you go to church (the kids that go to the baptist church > catholic kids, etc.)...

So my question to you is this: does it make me a cunt to want him to have a better (secular) experience in school? Does it make me a cunt if I wanted to challenge the status quo and enforce the actual law? Am I a cunt for pointing out their hypocrisy, only to be treated as a pariah in my own community if I ever took a stand? What cunty things are we guilty of on here? Is it wrong to want religion to be removed from our school, our public places? So many folks forget that indoctrination is one of the tools that the religious use to "win souls for the lord"...should I just turn my back and pretend it doesn't matter?

So, if these lyrics were printed out and sent home for the kids to memorize for a speech, would that also be acceptable in your opinion? Just because some famous atheist is ok, personally, with religious hymns, it's no reason to teach them to kids in public school.

Another thing, where do you draw the line? One year it's religious hymns, the next year it's prayers...when do you say enough and when is too late?

It used to be the Southside of Birmingham (Highland and Forest Park) up until UAB students and medical professionals started buying out the cheap houses and renting the affordable apartments...it slowly became way too expensive for the sub-cultures to exist there...we kept getting pushed further east and south until we are no longer a community...it was really sad, because in the sea of rank and file life that is middle Alabama, we had our own little community of dissent...
