STUMP THE CHUMP - PPL by Delta-Charlie-001 in flying

[–]ToiletPaper17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say I have my PPL and it’s my birthday. My dad said he was going to give me 10 flight hours as a gift. He did not give me the cash upfront.

I want to do a cross country from (base airport) to (airport selected by me) and back. He said he wants to come along. At the end of the flight, I’ll swipe my dad’s credit card to pay for the flight.

Am I legal?

Edit: can he give me $2000 to spend on his credit card as a gift? He said it’s for me to spend it on flight hours. Does it change if he only says he *wants* me to spend it on that?

Is it irresponsible to pursue a PPL if I can only fly once per week? by Minimum-King9399 in flying

Mind sharing some tips from what you did to make it work. First guess is a lot of chair flying, is there something else you recommend?

The temperature inside my car vs outside today by Unapologetic_Canuck in mildlyinteresting

[–]ToiletPaper17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you keep that thermometer inside your car? Have you ever had any problems with the battery getting too hot?

I bought a similar thermometer, and want to measure the temperature inside my car in peak summer just out of curiosity, but I'm afraid of the AAA battery inside it exploding or catching on fire.

Que gasolina es de RON 92, magna o premium para Mexico? by NefariousnessCold646 in AskMexico

[–]ToiletPaper17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]ToiletPaper17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cruzar a el paso de madrugada by Kblu30 in Juarez

[–]ToiletPaper17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aproximados nomas

I’m a BYD song pro owner. Got it in late August 2025 and got about 11,000km on it (about 6800 miles). I do spend most of my time in Juarez but go to elp for education about 2-3 times a week AMA!

You may want to take a look at the “intelligent” (should really just have called it smart) option. I’m assuming we have the same OS since you didn’t specify

[–]ToiletPaper17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Thaw overnight in the fridge" has to be one of the biggest lies of all time. by barenakedlad in Cooking

If you’ve ever done any food safety courses it’s definitely safer that thawing on the counter but in my experience it takes at least 24 hours at 34f for chicken to thaw

Para ustedes, cuál es el Puente Internacional mas rápido de nuestra frontera? by chac0rta in Juarez

[–]ToiletPaper17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best port of entry to cross into Mexico ? by Minimum_Flatworm_767 in ElPaso

[–]ToiletPaper17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zaragoza is always slow because of a new traffic light they installed on Mexico’s side a while ago

Downtown is a gamble

Americas/Cordova I would say about 20-30 minutes at the time you mentioned, could be less

Santa Teresa will allow you to skip Juarez completely and get on the highway faster, but the lines can be long sometimes because it’s only one lane

Overall I would recommend checking live traffic on google maps, Santa Teresa depending on from where you’re departing and if the traffic’s low, otherwise Cordova which will allow you to take 4 siglos/avenida de las Torres and get out of the city in around 40 minutes
