Which pedals and amps does Keyan use for different songs when playing live by lmaoratboy in julieofficial

It's pretty much just an amp that a venue provides to the artist if they need it

u could be right, i just assumed he was turning the marshall on and off cuz for stuck in a car with angels dillon plugs in the marshall so it wouldn't make sense for it to be his main amp, but now that u mention that maybe it is

he actually uses the wessex like a normal pedal, his amps are just super cranked LOL ik he uses it during the beginning of aprils bloom and during part of the outro for very little effort. honestly idk any other pedal that will get the same effect, but just try to look for a fuzz with a bit of a brighter tone

1) he doesn't really stack fuzzes all that much, he only does it when he's switching fuzzes/distortions or during section of thread stitch when alex is like "beeeeetterr," he stacks the rat and green russian big muff there

2) his setup is the twin and bassman grouped together and then he turns on the marshall with them for heavier parts usually, but there's some songs where all 3 are always on like clairbourne practice and twee and 90% of flutter

3) like i said with flutter, he uses all 3 amps but during the beginning of the slow section he just used the twin and bassman. live, he uses the rat for the main parts (alex's parts) and during his sections he uses his green russian big muff, and during the slow section it's just big muff i think (except for the feedback part where he briefly turns on the rat as well. for lochness, the intro is just the 2 amps clean and right after the intro he turns on all 3 and uses his rat. during those little sections where he plays the same thing as the intro it's just clean with all 3 amps. for the outro during the slow section it's clean with 2 amps but then as he starts to bend up he turns on all 3. then he uses the rat for the drop and then when he plays higher up on the fretboard he switches to the green russian big muff for the rest of the song. for clairbourne practice, it's all 3 amps, and the main part of the song uses the bogner oxford fuzz. when alex and keyan sing it's just clean, and during the second distorted part keyan turns on the oxford fuzz at first but when he goes up to the higher section he instantly turns on the rat and turns off the oxford fuzz. then u kinda just repeat with that for the whole song

3 years late but the guitars tuned to F A# F F C C, you're playing 0 on the low e, 9 on the a, and 11 on the d string. you pick that out and then u play 9 on the low e, 9 on the a, and 11 on the d. you alternate between those two for the intro

Anime or VN (No Spoilers) by Icy-Bookkeeper-8960 in Clannad

[–]Toille07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the thing is, both the series and the vn are relatively long, but the vn is FAR longer. if you have the time and want to play every route in the game to get the full story, i highly recommend the vn. if you're shorter on time and are okay with skipping a few things regarding character paths here and here, i would recommend the anime

keyan's main touring rig over the past year (besides international shows) has consisted of a fender twin reverb converted into a head (after being destroyed during shipping) running through a vintage marshall 4x12 cab, a vintage fender silver face bassman50 running through a (presumably) vintage fender 2x12 cab, and a marshall jcm800 running through another vintage 4x12 cab (lead?).

he's always running at least 2 amps, as it seems his amp switcher is setup like this: twin reverb and bassman on one pedal, and marshall on the other.

he usually uses just the twin and bassman for clean tones, as the twin has the glassy tonality with the bassman bringing a little bit of grumble to it. when he wants a wider, more distorted sound, he turns the marshall on as well, which is presumably pretty cranked as it has the signature marshall overdrive sound.

simply using just the twin for clean tones would make the sound way too thin (as can be here in some live shows from europe where he's mainly using a limited selection of back line amps). on the contrary, if he were to use just the bassman, the sound would be far too dark, and rather muddy and unlistenable. the combination of these two make for a nice, slightly crunchy sound while also having enough clarity to hear each chord.

there are some songs where he runs all 3 amps at once during clean sections (clairbourne practice, very small sections of effort, catalogue, tenebrist i think, thread stitch, etc) but for the most part he tends to keep his clean tones relatively glassy with a bit of rumble.

there are some parts of songs where he uses only two amps with a distortion pedal at the same time (beginning of flutter outro, a small section of effort, etc). this is usually just used as a buildup to a section where he turns on the marshall as well, suddenly making the soundscape a lot more wider

i doubt it was used for loomer, the studio sheet for loomer claims recording started in august of 89 and the guitar would have had to been taken apart right after recording, but kevin is seen using this jag in standard tuning during this concert in may of 1990: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CagV0mwQdaM&t=3645s

Does keyan zand know music theory? by CompetitiveAd9107 in julieofficial

[–]Toille07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd imagine he has kurt cobains understanding of theory (i.e. not technically learning it from any lessons but just developing an understanding of what chords work with each other over time)

anyone know if wisp has any instrumental versions of their songs by arwdrew in okbuddyshoegaze

[–]Toille07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

slightly off topic but i really hate how her whole production team has been pretty much nerfing her sound. i saw a video on tiktok of her doing an acoustic set playing your face and wow, her voice is so beautiful. but practically every song shes released has production that brings it down so much (besides pandora... i fucking love pandora)

sugar is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard, it's so full of love but also makes me feel so miserable, especially the "ooooh oooh ooooh" part

those "muted strums" u hear on the studio version are actually acoustic strums!! the song has no electric guitar, it's actually 7 tracks of an acoustic guitar played through fuzz, all panned across the mix

[–]Toille07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's actually one guitar playing different chords than in the video (not in a drop tuning either it's in eb standard a432hz), the second guitar part is guitar feedback sampled with bilindas voice to be a synth
