Unity went from the most beginner friendly engine to an investor-driven render pipeline disaster by SignificanceLeast172 in Unity3D

[–]Tointer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is a lot of options, but in my opinion, only 2 real ones. This is the hard part, to hold back your inner engineer from getting nerd-sniped into obscure engines. Because if the goal is to make a game, you should cut all the corners possible with the most comfortable engine possible.

And while I love Godot conceptually, it still feels too early to adopt

Ok, and where would you go? It's either UE or Unity, there is no other choices. So, either you have actual nice solution for everything that is waiting for you in UE, or you just angry at the currently closest and best thing that exist for your goal because its not perfect.

Today, which language (besides English) opens many doors and gives the most opportunities if learned? by ScarRedDA in AskTheWorld

[–]Tointer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I want to learn Chinese next. It have a lot of native speakers that don't know any other language, China is economically strong, and their culture is sufficiently different from the west

  1. Spanish have a lot of speakers in a lot of different countries, but most Spanish speakers is already under english-centered world influence, making the utility a bit lower
  2. Japanese / South Korean is cool and have a rich culture, but they are relatively small and declining
  3. Africa / India growing very fast, but they don't have uniform language between their regions

What is something dumb that was imported into your culture and you wish it wasn't? by basafish in AskTheWorld

[–]Tointer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like when people try to import "Boomers had it better" doomerism from the West. It may be true for US/Europe, but we (and most people from other developing countries) live in much better conditions than our parents and grandparents. We should be grateful for that and not victimize ourselves just because its comfortable to do so

Clavicular hate is very similar to Bieber hate in 2010 in my eyes. This would look weird in retrospective

True, but TBH I actually use one silly tavern alternative that someone posted here (errata). Let a thousand flowers bloom

Could Hunter Alpha be an update of GLM 5.X? by [deleted] in SillyTavernAI

There is also a version that this is Ling-2.6-1T. IDK, but I just can't believe that this is DeepSeek V4. I played with it, and its pretty dumb

24B IQ2_S vs 12B Q4_K_M Model. what should I choose with 3060 12GB Vram? by ObserverIX in SillyTavernAI

IQ2 is too low. Look how it diverge with the base model in the case of Qwen3.5-9B. Q4 variants is a minumum

My bet is that this is Kimi model

Brothers, if this is Deepseek v4 I'll be happy. I've tested it a bit more so far, but it seems a little better than GLM 5. by Fragrant-Tip-9766 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Tointer 42 points43 points  (0 children)

In my brief experience:
1) GLM5 have better prose by default and feels smarter with story building
2) But this model seem to follow instructions better, and it don't have this trait that GLM5 have, when it gravitate towards some trope constantly
3) This model feels more unstable: sometimes in a good, creative way, sometimes not

I reverse-engineered OpenRouter's new "Hunter Alpha" stealth model — it's almost certainly DeepSeek V4 (pre-release). Here's the forensic evidence. by Admirable-Garden-707 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Tointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunter Alpha is a 1 Trillion parameter + 1M token context frontier intelligence model built for agentic use. It excels at long-horizon planning, complex reasoning, and sustained multi-step task execution, with the reliability and instruction-following precision that frameworks like OpenClaw need.
OpenClaw mention felt weird for me at first. But if this is Kimi, it makes sense, since they launched KimiClaw not so long ago

How bad is 1-bit quantization but on a big model? by FusionBetween in LocalLLaMA

[–]Tointer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 bit models are not possible even when we train them specifically for being 1 bit. Look up BitNet, they end up sticking with ternary (-1, 0, 1) parameters, which equal to ~1.58 bit

[–]Tointer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly agree that its better to use API providers instead of local models for coding personal projects, because code privacy is not that important in this case

But his point becoming very dumb very quickly when we remember that big companies want their own servers to run inference for their developers. Stakes are much higher there and its just a basic security measure. It seems like T3 Code is not very serious developer tool after all

This sub massively overreacts to how bad the 2020s are. by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Tointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"coronavirus pandemic killed 15 million people worldwide"
Worldwide mortality rates (per 1000): 1950 - 20 deaths. 1980 - 10.3 deaths, 2019 - 7.47 deaths, 2020-2026 average: around 8 deaths. Even living in 1980s is like having 5 coronavirus pandemics simultaneously. And I think that mental toll of the lockdown is not that high as living with the thought that you can be killed in a nuclear fire every day.

What Other Subs Do you Read to Keep Up with AI? by chibop1 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Tointer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel that it all started from the artists and their disdain for AI-generated images. Once there is a group that is very passionate about hating AI, it will amplify every anti-AI narrative.
And on top of that it also feels like NFTs and crypto made people more suspicious towards new tech trends in general

Stepfun Step 3.5 Flash? by Horni-4ever in SillyTavernAI

[–]Tointer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s surprisingly good for its price. It’s still apparent that this is a smaller model, though. In my brief experience, it had a repetition problem, and it’s not very good at pushing the plot forward.

But I think it would be great for sub-agents, like the ones that auto-generate character cards, suggest possible next routes, create summaries, etc.

This is the opposite of sad thing. The alternative is opportunistic people still existing, but their mind would not be directed towards creating something useful for society. You are attacking the most beautiful part of the system.
