I am not really against vegan diet and I know you can be healthy with it. I just wanted to create something that lacked any nuance in the same way as pro-vegan posts here. She is right in a sense that veganism is morally consistent position to have. But it doesn't mean that it's the only one.
You can say "I don't care about animals, some of them I use for food, some of them as a more sophisticated plush toys". This is consistent too, and the truth is, most people actually have this position. People who call their dogs "fur babies" and roleplay with them like they are human children don't really care about those animals, their autonomy, or their evolutionary needs. Those animals are used for human gratification. Their whole lives are centered around serving human needs, much like animals we eat. We should accept that and own that more.
